Implant or no Implant? Hard decision...

Postby Ikarus » Thu Jan 11, 2024 1:38 pm

Dear colleagues, I have been wondering for many months whether to have an implant or not... I try to keep my "history" short: About 7 years ago, I made the mistake of my life: I underwent a so-called "laser therapy" against a simple Prostatitis... This "alternative procedure" involved injecting so-called "photosensitisers" such as Curcumin and Hypericin beforehand, inserting a low level laser trans-utherally into the prostate and then "irradiating" the "inflamed areas". This is what was claimed by the "Doc". Result: The inflammation of the prostate was really gone, but unfortunately also - permanently – a part of my erectile function. I suspect nerve damage, despite all possible examinations (and I checked literally everything) showed: No structural damage, no venous leakage, the prostate is intact. But well: But my sex life was severely impaired from then on.

The doctor who offers me a miracle treatment for my rare problem (or: rare cause for erectile dysfunction) will not come, they even (all) failed to find the source of my problem (what was damaged?). Physically I am very fit, no illnesses, sportsman. Taking now 7.5mg Cialis daily.

Can I have sex? Yes, albeit with a lot of manual (preparatory) work - "Honey, I've managed to get an erection myself, lie down quickly“ - and then try to come as quickly as possible for fear that my penis collapses too quickly. Is that satisfactory? No. Can you do that in a trustful long-term relationship? Yes. With a spontaneous one night stand? No. If I'm in the right mood and a lot of dopamine shoots into my brain, it even sometimes works without prior self-help. To support to have at least a bit of normal feeling I take just for having sex additional single doses of either 15 mg Cialis or 100 mg Viagra. But even this works not 100%. In good times - i.e. on holiday with high testosterone levels - I can go longer (sometimes even up to 5-10 minutes), in bad times much worse. So my condition fluctuates.

Interestingly, nevertheless I still have quite strong nocturnal erections/morning woods, for the first 2-3 years I needed 2.5 mg of Cialis daily, then 5 mg daily, now I'm on 7.5 mg daily to keep that stage. When I dont take my daily Cialis, I loose my nocturnal erections more or less. With Cialis, they are mostly really strong, and I also notice that my penis comes up in the night rather quickly - unlike during the day ;). But I had to increase the dosis for that with the years. Not a good sign!

Can I enjoy sex? Definitely no. Whereas sex used to be a means of relaxation, it is now the source of tension and permanent worries: Will it work, will it not work? With spontaneous casual sex, it's a real self-torture. My "tactic" for the near future will now be to drastically increase the single doses before sex (possibly to 25 mg Cialis or 150 mg Viagra), and to have injections of Caverject at stock as an emergency programme if nothing works at all because of the tension. But is that fun for me? No. Not at all. And the misfunction is 24/7 on my mind.

So I have the thought more and more often: Get an implant with a top surgeon, and end of debate. Final solution. Enjoy life once again and behave like Roger Moore in his best years. You can't do that with pills and injections, but with the super powers of an implant?

Or is it too early for me? Pills didnt fail 100%, I didnt try injections. On the other hand, I'm 52, what am I waiting for?

I would vote get it asap! Why wouldn’t you, a few weeks of pain is no big deal.

With all the hassle you're going through now I'd say just do it. It's good you have a supportive wife, but she probably needs/wants sex to be better as much as you do. It will make you both happy!

I can only speak from personal experience. Prostrate removed Jan 2020 and ended up with 1.5 inch turtle head for 3 years ED. It was a horrible experience. Had scar issues before implant, used one of the best over 13 months ago and today I sport a 6L and 6G toy. It's as if I never had any issues. As many will attest to on here as well as myself...I'm a man again. theres nothing worse than not being able to use it. No pressure in keeping it up etc. I stop when I want to. I injected Trimix for 2 years and that was an absolute nightmare and quite painful. And yes, make sure you use a top doc.
