To implant or not to implant...

Postby walnut99 » Wed Mar 06, 2024 12:38 pm

I am considering an implant with Dr Eid and looking for any insights, shared experiences, opinions, etc. I am in my late 40s and suffer from a venous leak. So while I can get a normal erection, keeping it is always a question. PDE5 help but not like they used to. Trimix still helps more so, but the pain and side effects (scarring, size, peyronie's) make it far far from ideal. An IPP would provide a better erection but I am a bit scared to do something so permanent when I can still have sex, but again, its far from ideal.
49 yrs.VL based ED since teen yrs, most likely congenital.Pills, shots worked 4 functional sex life. Pills stopped being effective, shots less so.Trimix caused peyronies.Ipp dr Eid may 2024. 22 cm, 2cm RTE on left, 2cm cut on right

Been lots of discussion on here about this. My general answer is when your not sure, your probably not ready. When your completely sick and tired of the issues with pills and or injections and feel there’s nothing to lose then you will know it’s time. My time arrived within a few weeks after I started relying on shots. I was having to increase my injection every few weeks and never could get with a consistent amount. Was like dealing with ED constantly. And then the process of get an appointment and meeting Dr and then scheduling the surgery was still another 3-4 months. No regrets.

Where you are is where i was with trimix. Could get hard but not for long due to VL.

I read so many “wish i’d done it sooner” comments in the forum i decided to heed that advice. So i did it sooner

Now 1+ year postop. All good. Glad i did it.

If you are using injections, implant is the next logical step. You’ll know when you are ready. Keep in mind the longer you use injections, the more chance for side effects.

Very much agree with this post, only thing to add would be most of us wish we had done it sooner, haven’t heard one post where a man got a functioning implant that said… Man, i wish i would have waited longer.

I hear you and largely agree. Reading about failures and needing multiple implants causes concern but i get its a small percentage and working with an experienced doctor makes a difference. Its probably also the case that guys who have had a successful procedure might be less inclined to be on this site, so the posts might not accurately reflect the total universe of results.

Its just that my dick still works somewhat. if i couldn't have sex at all, its not much of a choice, but with the pills and injections, i can so its a tradeoff. but they dont work great and comes with a lot of side effects that we all read about on here. if i could have a fully functioning penis that just requires some pumping and it all works fine for years - that is the best case scenario.

Yes, many guys say "wish I had done it sooner" and I am one of them. After pills and injections failed it was the only choice I had to continue sexual activity. I wish I could have done it before taking that first Viagra. The side effects of pills and injections was terrible, migraines from Viagra and achy penis the next day from injections. The worst part is planning sex. Should I take a pill tonight dear? Or getting warmed up then having to run and inject myself, having to start all over while injection takes hold.
Best of luck on your decision.
