Dude, Where’s My Release Button?

All right. Yesterday was the three week mark of my recovery, and in the days prior I had grown increasingly curious about pressing that giant third nut I now have in my (still swollen) scrotum. Why would I want to play with that if things still weren’t fully operational, you might ask? I suspect the fact that I haven’t had an orgasm in over three weeks might play a part - probably the longest stretch I’ve gone since that oh-so-miraculous first one back in the 1980’s, when our porn came in dog-eared magazines hidden under the bed as opposed to on demand.

Thinking with my dick, as always, last night I gave it a hard squeeze. And then another one. And then another one. And lo and behold… I had a fairly erect dick. Certainly not as full or as hard as I understand it gets, but definitely hard enough for sex. Wow! This is pretty neat. I didn’t masturbate (that seems like it needs more time), but I did get myself aroused and felt what it was like to have the glans grow with it, too. Lots of weird neuropathic discomforts here and there, and tissues getting stretched in new ways. But overall, pretty good.

I figured if I could figure out how to blow it up, I can also figure out how to let it down. But no, no I can’t.

I can’t find the release button. I can’t even really figure out which way the pump is oriented. I can find the inflation bulb, but can’t find the rectangular piece on top. The swollen masses in my scrotum prevent me from getting a good feel. So I’m poking and pressing on it from every direction hoping to just get lucky.

Meanwhile, I’ve had an erection for about 18 hours now. At first it felt great, but now it is uncomfortable. Not uncomfortable enough for me to sheepishly reach out to my doc, but definitely not comfortable. And decades of conditioning that I’m supposed to “seek medical attention if you have an erection that lasts longer than four hours” is certainly creating a lot of cognitive dissonance!

I don’t have a tub, so hot bath is out. Hot shower and heating pad haven’t had a discernible short term effect.

I was not left semi-erect after surgery like most guys report… doc said I only had one or two pumps in there. He describes his firm pumps take about 10 to get to full, so I’m estimating he left me at 10-20%. I gave it some pretty solid pumps once I realized I could, so my guess is I got to maybe 50%, give or take? That is reported as around where most guys are left anyway, and a lot of you report discomfort as a result, and relief once you can finally deflate, correct? So I sort of figure I got myself to that point on my own.

Anyway. Any advice on finding my release button would be appreciated! Or any other tips for this scenario. To be honest, the discomfort isn’t nearly as bad as the side effects I felt from PDE5’s, so I can live with it for now!

Be well, Leto

Hi again, Leto
Quick question.
Did you get sent home with the "keychain" when you left the hospital?
That thing was instrumental in my figuring this thing out.

There is a pump on the bottom and above it is a block.
THATS where you will find the button, should be dead center.
Here is a link I want you to scroll down on.
Go to the deflate button location.
Its pretty self explanatory at that point.

It's a learning curve.
You'll get it. ;)

Thanks, Hiker! Yeah, I got the keychain. It’s not for lack of understanding of the physics of it, it’s just my swollen state won’t let me feel out that button. Dumb me I never considered that I should make sure I could find it before pumping up a bit. I’ll get there in next few days I’m sure as swelling goes down.

That PDF is very helpful! As usual, I’m going about it wrong. Once I can grab the tubing, as it says, I’ll try that.

Follow the lines of the tubing with your fingertips and make your way down to the pump. I went through the same thing.

Oh, dude. You couldn't wait until Christmas Day to open your present? Shame, shame, shame.

Doctor gave me explicit directive: Don't touch the pump until I show you how on activation day. Did yours not?

Anyway, good luck. I don't think there's too much to worry about, as you know mine is about 40-50 percent and staying that way until A Day. (Or Christmas Day in July)

Funny but not really. Most of us have been there. That was my fear when I jumped the gun. The difference is I was in a tub of hot water and found the button after 3 pumps. After that it was Katy bar the door!

Good luck guy. Your going to find it.

Update: still can’t find the release button. But the discomfort has gotten much better. So I guess I’ll just walk around with a tent pole for awhile. Sounds like that is fairly standard for most of you anyway. Regardless, I haven’t been worried about hiding my erection since I was a teenager… feels pretty darn good, to be honest.

Ha! Yeah. Here in SF we always have to carry around a light jacket. I’ll just hang it and see if I get some positive attention!

I was left at about 50% and at my two week Dr removed stitches and said all things looked great. He said he wanted to wait a few more days before inflating me and said if I wanted to attempt to go ahead. Also said don’t put more than one or two pumps in before finding the deflate button and releasing it then to gradual build up. I had almost no swelling so it wasn’t an issue at all. Good luck and guess I told you that to let you know you’ll be fine even if it takes a couple more days.
