When does sizing occur in the overall process?

Hi all, I'm currently doing my final deep dive into implants after years of yo-yo-ing.

As a Hard Flaccid sufferer, I'm concerned about being sized during an episode of pelvic floor tightness where my penis is smaller than usual, so I wanted to ask - at what point is the penis sized up for the implant? Is it during the actual surgical procedure (i.e. when asleep), or during one of the pre-op appointments?

If it's during the procedure, I'm a bit less concerned as everything tends to loosen up when I sleep. If it's when I'm awake, might need to do some heavy meditation that morning!

On a more general level, I'm concerned about what an implant would be like for someone with HF - but I see there are posts here that go into that so I'll look through those.

It is measured during the surgery once you are out. They inject the penis to inflate and stretch it out, but then measure from the inside based on a device inserted into the corpora.

True. In addition, after they put in the implant, but before they sew you up, they will do a test inflation. In my surgery notes the doctor said that he added another 1/2 cm of rear tip extender after inflating and seeing how things looked.

This is absolute gold dust, thank you so much for this - I feel like I can discuss this with my surgeon much more effectively now that I know the process.

I watched a few "operation videos" where they actually showed the whole process. It might not be a good idea for the squeamish, but I found them very educational. Don't ask me for links. I was just googling around. Many of the popular docs seem to have such videos up. They definitely helped me feel like I understood what was going to happen to me. So much the better if you can find one from your own doc. Honestly, it's probably a good sign for the caliber of your doc if they have videos up of them doing their work.

This is a concern for me too.

At home my erection length and flaccid stretched length are both 7”. In the doc’s office my stretched length was under 4” because it goes into a very strong spasm under stress and is impossible to stretch out.

Based on this the doc told me they could give me 4” with implant. I got out of there fast.

In another doctor office it was 6” because of a spasm too.

What if it is in spasm during surgery and they undersize me by 1-3 inches? Will anesthesia necessarily relax the spasm? I am not sure that’s the case.

never heard of such a spasm .. when your asleep everything is relaxed so I would think you would get the largest implant the could safely install ..

Ask for a penile doppler before the surgery and see if they are open to size you up with it. Dr. Eid uses this protocol and guarantees size basis penile doppler results.

I think you're misunderstanding his statement. The 4" is basically the minimum you'd be. You can be longer than 4".

I'm sure that once sedated whatever is causing your spasm will stop. Sedation relaxes all muscles.

I realize your fear & the tendency to not believe people on such a topic. But in reading this forum for years. The only undersized members were generally operated on by drs without much experience.

Well im not going under for a surgery with a 4” guarantee because of white coat shrinkage when I’ve always been 7”.
