I am due to have the AMS700 installed this coming Friday Sept 20th. I have the following questions and hoping this group can help me.
1. I am confused about why there is so much conversation about types of underwear to wear. Am I correct that your testicles need support and boxers do not support them? I love wearing boxers because it feels less constrictive but will briefs work?
2. As I understand it they leave you partially erect after the surgery till the 6 week mark. (US surgery) and if I have lose fitting pants is that going to work? Do you just let it hang there? I hear some guys pushing it up to the stomach to hide the erection, that sounds crazy.
3. Sleeping, stomach sleeper here so I understand that for 6 weeks thats not going to happen but again I hear guys saying to being in some kind of support for your testicles while in bed. Why and what should I use.
Lastly, I have had many surgeries in my life and this is the most nervous I have ever been. Thanks to this forum I feel much better prepared and less anxious. SO THANK YOU!!!!

I have the same implant. On the day after surgery, the surgeon deflated me to 50%. I wore boxers mostly, as I prefer them. I had no problems. Loose fitting pants or sweat pants worked well, but at the public times I wore knit boxers to better control the bulge. Hope this helps--it's a great product!

I didnt ware anything for a while. For work i got tighty whities, mainly because i wanted to hide my 3/4s boner from conworkers…normal day walking around boxers were my choice.

Sleeping i would recommend a pillow between your legs, that worked best for me. I also wore a baby sock over my dick because my glands were very sensitive.

I am the proud owner of AMS 700 equipment (the LGX, to be specific) and it will be 5 years in December.

I can divide the process into several phases. Bear with me.

The decision. At some point in the life of many guys with ED there comes a time when you just know it’s the right time to get past pills, past shots, and go the implant route. You make the decision to do it. You’ve already checked this block.

The wait. Depending on the surgeon’s schedule this can be long or brief. As you said you go on the table 20 Sep you’re doing useful stuff like picking our brains for helpful hints and our experiences. Warning: don’t expect much sleep the night before. Even though you’ve made a decision, and you know it’s the right thing…..there will be some second guessing and “am I doing the right thing?”

Day of surgery: is a blur. You’re going to be anesthetized, operated on, wrapped like a mummy, catheterized. They may or may not leave catheter. They’ll probably put in a drain. You may or may not have much pain. I didn’t. You may or may not see a lot of bruising. I did. It was a bit more than a vasectomy, pretty similar to a hernia repair, but not anywhere near as tough as a rotator cuff. You’ll survive the day easily. Generally, whatever meds they’ve put in your IV have made it to where you don’t really care that there’s a bandaged up dick protruding out of the damned hospital gown. I was done as day surgery at a large Catholic general hospital and my situation seemed to disturb several nurses/other patients while others acted like penile implant surgical patients were nothing new.

I went home in a jockstrap and sweatpants. I was concerned about being comfortable. I did stop for lunch at chick-fil-A but just did the drive thru.

Post op recovery phase: No two guys have the same experience. Bottom line up front: you have two or three weeks ahead of wondering “WTF have I done?”this too shall pass and everything will be fine. In the meantime do what feels normal to you and what you think will contribute to a return to normal life. In my case I gave up underwear in my late 20s as a soldier in the swamps of Ft Polk LA due to really bad crotch rot. So no underwear at all for me except occasionally I wore a jock (I wore one to the gym before surgery anyway because my balls are pretty big) and jeans or sweats and I wasn’t vulgar or obscene in appearance. I pointed my cock straight up towards navel because that was comfortable.

Long term recovery phase: 3 weeks to as much as a year. You cycle. The size comes back. You have sex with it. You no longer have to worry about maintaining an erection. You feel better about yourself. If you were a grower before, you’re now a shower. A lot of guys have a larger flaccid. Not obscenely huge but enough to where you notice. Again, dress for comfort as much as you can.

I overlooked ice. I didn’t ice as much as I should have. Guys who can tolerate icing down after surgery seem to see less swelling and less bruising.

Not for the faint of heart: depending in if you really want to know…..there’s a thread on here with my before pictures, a few days post surgery, and 4+ years later. You can search for it but I warn you…the swelling and bruising is scary. Then again, it might put your mind at ease to know the outcome of someone that bruised.

Final comment: do what is right for you. Use your best judgment. Listen to your doctor. Right now you’re dealing with fear of the unknown. This time next week you’ll be coping with fear of the known. But it’s all gonna turn out good. This time next year you’ll laugh about this thread if you have time to laugh in between sexual encounters.

Quick question.

Are you going infra-pubic or thru your sack ?
I ask this because I went Infra-pubic and had very little testicle discomfort.
Those are basically the only 2 ways to do it.
Some Doctors have their own preference

Also, you will probably be 60-70% inflated on the way out of the hospital.
I found a loose dress shirt and loose pants will conceal things quite nicely for the time you are inflated.
Obviously use discretion when being around people- especially children in those weeks
But, I was able to conceal pretty easily and nobody was the wiser.

It's funny that I left the hospital on the day after surgery totally deflated.
I did have to sleep in a recliner, but I don't remember why.
I had no ill effects from being deflated.

Hey Kernels.....I hope you have ALL of your questions answered from your URO before your surgery. I was so nervous and being suspect, I had over 50 questions or more for my URO team. He & She thought I was interviewing them. I had every question I could think of.....even simple questions like, "How many times will you and your staff be washing your hands?" "How many will be in the operating room"? I was scared as hell. But since I made the decision to have Mr. Winkie operated on......I needed to know everything. You name it, I had questions for it. Even reading in here (FT) for months, I also had questions for the information I read in here. Just like interrogations.....Who, What, When, Where, and How long? Remember, a dumb question is a question never asked. GOOD LUCK.

Bigdog4all You are so lucky to have a dr. and surgery team that is open and honest. I had 3 surgeries in 12 months and to this day not really sure who did the cutting and sewing on me ... lots of smoke and mirrors when questions were asked ..
