Has anyone had an AMS implanted by Dr. Eid?

Depending on the results from my cardiologist, and then from an angiogram, I am scheduled to have an implant on November 1 by Dr. Eid. I have been dealing with severe ED for four or five years now and I have exhausted all options so I am finally at peace with the fact that I need the implant.

However, after doing my research, I was hoping to have an AMS because I was led to believe it was more natural. Also, I am not that big at 5 1/2 inches so I thought it would be the right choice for me; however, Eid says the Coloplast classic is the best choice for me…he is the doctor, and obviously one of the best if not the best, so I will go along with what he advises.

I’m just wondering if he has ever done an AMS for anyone on this forum? I guess I’m asking if he just has some type of contract with Coloplast where he only does those exclusively? He did say that with AMS I would need rear tip extenders, while I probably would not with Coloplast…not sure why that is the case. It seems that one should avoid rear tip extenders if they can…?

Dr. Eid is listed as a Center of Excellence surgeon for Coloplast. I don't see him listed as a Center of Excellence surgeon by AMS. To me, he is obviously a Coloplast fan!

I'm a believer in using a surgeon that offers as many options as possible. Men and their dicks are not one size fits all. If you go to a Ford dealer, you're going to be told Fords are the best choice.

RTEs are not a problem unless excessively used. RTEs allow the surgeon to adjust where the fixed hoses coming off the cylinders drop into your scrotum for the best outcome.

Also, AMS implants are more expensive to purchase, so unless the surgeon passes the increase on to you (or the insurance carrier), there is more money to be made by the doctor by installing Coloplast. On a worldwide scale, there are FAR more AMS implants in operation than Coloplast, and it's not close.

Many people here report pain and uncomfort in flaccid with titan. Unless you have peyronne or you are very big (more than 7.5”) ask for AMS.

Very true as the friends above say, first of all the extenders to be placed (if they are needed) are decided with the patient open on the operating table, according to the doctors they push the implants where there is more gain for them, I have a functioning coloplast and I will remove it on September 24th because it hurts, I have heard many here that the coloplast hurts ams, few or none that ams hurts, now the doctors tell us what they want to take us on their turf

Dr Levine presented both implants to me and discussed the strengths and weaknesses of both. He even presented the models of both implants. Then he left the choice to me.

Eid seems to suggest Coloplast to most of his patients. I'm not cynical and don't think it is for purely financial reasons, but I wonder why that is.

The video was very informative, thank you! And thank you to everyone for weighing in… Well, I do think that Doctor Eid has a bias in favor of the titan, but since I am based in New York already and he is an excellent surgeon, I have to go with his recommendation. I just wish his recommendation was not based on only dealing with one company, but I have to consider myself lucky to live in the same city as one of the top penile implant surgeons. Dr. Clavell does say in his video, several times, to trust your surgeon.

I’m still curious to see if anyone on this forum has had an AMS implant from Dr. Eid. If not, that does tell us something….

The only reason that I can see is that the titan comes in more incramental sizes so you could be given implant that is your exact size so that an RTE is not needed. Otherwise at that size I don't see why implant size would matter with either model. I don't know how accurate your measurement is but in order to get a true measurement it would have to be done during surgery to see how much distal and proximal penis you have. If you are 5.5 in bone pressed then your implant should be at 16-18 centimeters with an aggressive sizing of the stretched penis into the glands and to account for the proximal penis that doesn't extend out of your body. I'm leaning towards a Titan with a Classic Genesis Pump.

My reasons are:

1. My penis has a slight downwards bend and I would like to have a post implant straighter penis. Titan gives me a better chance here.
2. I would like to avoid rear tip extenders which I have heard can cause less stability after talking with a few implant recipients especially since I probably won't have a very deep curra given I'm a thin person. Since the Titan comes in 2cm increments, it gives me a better chance to avoid extenders.
3. With the thinner diameter cylinders of the AMS (18mm vs 22mm), I have also been told that the penis can look a lot more oval with the AMS especially the urethra can get nestled in between the cylinders
4. The cylinders are a lot more durable than AMS. From Dr Hakky: The AMS outer layer silicone is very thin and if it tears the implant may continue to work but the corporal tissue will start growing in the underlying Dacron fiber which will make a revision somewhat more difficult. I don't know what are the real chances of the outer layer failing and the implant still working. Dr Eid has mentioned similar thing in one of his YouTube videos.
5. The pump is quite a bit smaller

My concerns:

1. Whether the titan will be too big for my corpora width. My erect size from pubic bone to the tip of the engorged glans with bimix is 6 inches. My girth near the tip is 4.5 inches and girth near the base is 5 inches. The tip of my glans from one side to the other runs just a tad bit above 1 inch.
2. Dog ears and kinks. I have heard from Dr Eid and a lot of folks on this forum that the stiffer titan becomes more pliable over time. So any dog ear related pain or uncomfortableness should improve over time.
