Over pumping?

Is it possible to over pump the implant causing it to split or break? I hear the actual implant is itself very strong, and that breaks often involve either the pump or the tubing. Correct?

I asked my dr about a common quoted test where a pair of Titans & one pair of either CX or LGX are tested to 20 psi. He assured me that no man can get that high of a pressure. More like in the 12-13 lb range.
Rest assured, I have never read of one of any brand ipp rupturing from pumping. I hope that eased your random thoughts.

In the AMS pump there is a bypass or something that only lets you pump so much pressure.

To what degree is this known to be accurate? Is it enough of a consideration that you recommend against maximum inflation? The component that is most likely to fail of the penile implant is the tubing connection at the level of the pump. Repetitive stress causes fracture of the tubing and leakage of saline. The tubing sustains tremendous pressure as well. The more one pumps the more likely the device will fail. The life expectancy of the device also depends on how the pump is positioned in the scrotum. Acute angulation of the tubing at the point of connection to the pump and tubing crossing over each other will foreshorten the life expectancy of the device. "

This is obviously very important, but he frustratingly doesn't give an estimation. What exactly constitutes over pumping the device to the point of excessive stress? Frankly, it renders the idea of the IPP ridiculous, since it's made to be used ("pumped"); or is one now supposed to judiciously ration how often they have sex/masturbate?
Second, does this apply to all IPPs, or just the Coloplast? As Tmansdorfer noted above, the AMS (maybe) comes with a limiter--although I'm not sure how exactly that would work.

I can only reply as to what my dr told me when I asked about if 20psi was a realistic pressure to obtain during pumping. So if they can be tested for a study at 20psi. And mere mortal men can't reach 20psi pumping. I'm willing to say no you can't split or break your implant.
The reality of drs is that no two of them will give the exact same answer. So just pick who you want to believe.

This is mostly false. I have a high volume implanter and he said that you can't break the implant in general, it's just pure chance from the device being defective or by sheer chance from use. Obviously the more you use it the more chance you have of something breaking vs not using it. Shouldn't be any determination in how you use it. Use it how you feel, you could use it 1000 times and nothing happens or it could be used 2 times and breaks.
