Congrats and welcome to the bionic brotherhood!
The pain should decrease after 24 h, but you should ask for pain killers so it'll be easier for you to handle.

Cheers

Welcome to bionic life.
Sounds like doc didn't use a nerve block. The pain at first can be terrible, sorry.
Hopefully they ordered some pain pills. Ice packs might help. Naps were my relief.
Feel better soon.

Hi guys. Thanks for your replies. The pain got better about 4 am. Hydrocodone and morphine did the trick. Now about 18!hours post. Lots of swelling. Does that go away soon?

Great, you pain is now under control.
Swelling 7-10 days, sometimes longer. With ice packs yo can decrease the swelling, but don't worry, it's normal.

Just hang in, it all subsides by time.

Cheers
Dan

Good your pain is less. Stay on top of it, take more meds before the pain becomes bad. Remember it takes 20-30 minutes for it to kick in if it's oral med.
Swelling is normal, and since we all heal at a different rate it varies when it will go down. Many say use ice packs to reduce swelling. The first few days are the toughest, hope they pass quick for you.
