Spent a long time lurking and now getting more serious with considering implant. I'm in San Diego, California and trying to figure out who I should see. I see a lot regarding the big names on the forum, but looking for more of a personal touch and someone that I can continue to see within driving distance. Looking for San Diego and LA areas recommendations and any other places that I should look.
Most of my ED care has been through a local testosterone clinic, but just recently got better insurance and considering implant now. I've never seen a Urologist yet or know where to start in vetting a surgeon!

Los Angeles: Dr. Jeffrey Loh-Doyle.(USC-Keck)
Northern CA: Dr Edward Karpman
The best in the West is Dr Clavell out of Houston, TX. Watch his procedures on YouTube. I made the sacrifice and flew out there, from out of State.

Highly recommend you consult with Dr. Patel. Fortunate to be his current patient and has operated on me twice in the last few years. Very responsive, extremely knowledgeable about the latest trends/techniques, and exceptional technical skills. Main practice is out of UC San Diego and I saw him initially at his Rancho Santa Fe location but main office in La Jolla. He is center of excellence for both AMS and Coloplast and won't pressure you into one or the other, but gently guide you based on what's most important to you.
Agree with Dr. Loh Doyle as rec in LA but he only does infrapubic installs.

I did too. From CA to TX, paid out of pocket and couldn't be happier.

Got on a last minute new consult appointment with Dr. Patel this afternoon due to a cancellation for who I was on the wait-list for till January.
Man I was blown away by how much he knows about implants and the way he talks makes it seem like he's seen it all.The appointment did not seem rushed at all and he spent quite a bit of time walking through common questions, expectations, recovery. I also had a laundry list of questions. Felt very well prepared for this next stage for my sex life after leaving the appointment. I've settled on AMS and hopeful for LGX model based on the artificial test they would do at surgery. Feeling excited and optimistic today!
I have an appointment in January with Dr Doyle at USC but wondering if I should cancel. I got a good gut feeling with Dr. Patel and he can get me scheduled for Late-January (About the time I would have my consult).
Do you guys think I'm making a decision I might regret if I don't seek out more surgeon opinions? I really like the idea of not driving too far and having a mid-career surgeon who will be around and accessible. Should i even talk to other local surgeons - Dr. J Mills??

I would still see Dr Doyle. Never heard of Mills.
Just curious, why LGX and not CX?
