Hey guys,

I’m 51 and on 10/28 had an IPP implanted for the first time (Titan). Everything was going well with the recovery until 4 weeks later when I got signs of an infection. Quickly went to Dr’s office and infection was confirmed.

I was told a malleable was my only option so that the infection could be taken care of while the implant was replaced. I had the surgery done yesterday (12/6) and it was successful as I was implanted with a Tactra malleable. I can eventually go back and get an IPP if I want.

Upon measuring today I was disappointed that I had lost 3/4” of my length (from base to the tip). I know they say not to measure right after surgery but I am really hoping to be able to regain at least some of my size. I’m hoping I get a better/more accurate measurement when the swelling of the entire area starts to go down. Anyone else have an experience like mine? Any possibility of the measurement being skewed post surgery?

Your tissues are under a lot of stress. You just went through a revision surgery to get rid of an infection. They say not to measure post-surgery for a reason. Give it time. The tissues expand/contract all the time even due to ambient air temperature.

my malleable was done in april . i lost over an inch in girth and a little bit in length .
its has not gained anything since then and it wont . it is what it is now .

Were they able to figure out what caused the infection?

these posts scare me, since I intend to replace my titan with a malleable one, have you had an infection?

For clarity, my IPP was infected and after the revision and the initial swelling went down the total length loss between first and second surgery was 1/2 inch. Girth was fine. My problem is that the half inch takes me from average to below.

Not sure what caused my infection. I chose a high volume surgeon and a center of excellence. I was just unlucky.

The malleable is fine. Not as rigid as the IPP and not as comfortable. My final appointment is -16 January.

After that I have a decision to make. Do I do a revision back to an IPP in 6 months to get my length back? Having been through this twice I really don’t want another surgery but neither do I want to give up my original God given length.

Tactra depending on the rod size is one of the hardest implants to bend.. I had rigicon 6-2023 ..30 days later sliced open looking for an infection which there was none cut from asshole to elbow .
6-2024 rt rod trying to come out of the side of my penis .. had a revision put longer implant in due to being undersized from the original implant.. once things heal you may get some back .. is there a reason he chose a Tactra or di you choose it?

They cut you open thinking you had an infection or cause of being undersized that lead to an erosion (or risk of erosion)?

I misspoke. I have a Rigicon 20 cm implanted (with .5 RTE) on left side. The Coloplast I had was a 22 cm. I guess going from the IPP to the malleable, they are more conservative to limit the risk of erosion.

It’s frustrating because the IPP was very close to my original length. Now I have a malleable - while I’m thankful to have addressed the infection and be functional again, I’m really frustrated about lost size.

Hit me up via PM if you’d like, I will be considering all options over the next several months. My preference would be to keep the malleable if I can get closer to my original size.

Hey Gatorman, sorry to hear about the frustrations man. You’re right about surgeons being more conservative in their sizing when it comes to the malleable. Dr Hakky just posted a video on malleable implants and in the comments section, he mentions he usually undersizes by about 1-2 cms depending on the patient as a way to mitigate erosion risks - and he also mentions this is something most surgeons will do. It’s definitely one of the drawbacks of the MPP.
