Hi,
I was implanted with the AMS 700 CX (21cm + 3cm RTE) exactly one week ago. I created a journal (https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25603) to report on the progress of my recovery. Everything is going fine so far, pain and swelling are subsiding.
One thing that I’m sure many of you have had to contend with is the rigidity and sheer size of the implant in its flaccid state. My surgeon’s technique is to keep his patients fully deflated from the beginning, so what I have now between my legs is not going to shrink. If anything, as I start cycling, the implant may get longer (well at least in erection state, which I would be fine with ). I am now clearly a shower haha.
While I’m sure I can learn to live with a bulkier package (longer and wider penis plus a bigger scrotum), the rigidity of the implant is inconvenient. I can tell that this would bother me while working out, doing hikes, or even just bending over to grab something.
My understanding is that the implant will over time get softer, more pliable. For those who have or have had the CX, my questions are:
1) How much more pliable is the CX going to get while deflated in the long run? 10%, 20%, 40%?
2) How long will it take?
Thanks for your answers, I am glad to have joined the brotherhood!
How much softer does the CX becomes in flaccid state over time?
How much softer does the CX becomes in flaccid state over time?
30 years old French with ED caused by priapism episodes at the age of 15. Implanted with 21cm + 3cm RTEs AMS 700 CX MS pump on 05/12/2024 by Dr Sébastien Beley. Pills had lost most of their potency, injections worked but were painful and inconvenient.
Re: How much softer does the CX becomes in flaccid state over time?
The common story is that an IPP will make you a shower if you was a grower. I found that to be the truth. It takes a long time to get accustomed to your dick being in the way. So to speak.
Just a warning. There is some rigid parts in the tip that won't soften any. The shaft will slowly get softer. There is a chance that frequent cycling and/or using it might speed up the process. But a larger flacid is the reality. How rigid it is going to be might be variable.

Thanks for your reply. I can live with a longer penis but the rigidity makes walking difficult. I have to put my dick on the side and the glans rub against my jeans while the tips of the implant apply an additional pressure. So I’m essentially limping at the moment lol, but I guess this will improve. I still have general pain in the shaft which probably contributes to the fact that I'm limping.

My wiener has always hung down my leg and it is uncomfortable because it usually hangs out of my pants unless I wear a nice baggy pair of pants

I would agree - CX has made me more of a shower rather than a grower that I was prior to the implant. Its very natural and not uncomfortable. Only with yoga or very tight clothing just need to readjust.
65 with ED for >10 years. Failed pills, not happy with injections. Implanted 6/24/24 (AMS CX 21 cm) with Dr Darshan Patel at UCSD.
Re: How much softer does the CX becomes in flaccid state over time?
Hopefully it gets a bit softer - just got my CX on the 9th - same issue - quite stiff and prominent - no one talks about the pump adding to your scrotum valume as well - but it does. Its not that I dislike showing off - its about comfort and being able to protect the head.
48yo gay married male - Size before cancer / ED = 7.5" x 6.25" (current 5.5x5). AMS 700 CX implanted 12/9/29. 18cm + 1cm RTE and 18cm + 2cm RTE.

The pump adds volume to the package for sure haha. I agree with the concern of protecting the head. In general, I feel quite vulnerable with having such a stiff flaccid. A kick in the crotch would be absolutely painful but to the head rather than the balls I feel.
I hope that as it gets softer, the penis can « fall » more naturally at 6 o’clock such that we don’t have to tug it to the side.

I doubt you're fully deflated. In the overall sense the doctor said you're deflated, but in reality you're not. I highly doubt the surgeon did not inflate the cylinders to some degree when installing them, just so they had some body to them during the process. I believe he likely inflated them fully at some point to check his work and then "deflated" them and told you they were deflated. I highly doubt he squeezed your newly implanted dick to get every last drop out.
My guess is you're probably still 20% inflated, which in my case with a similar sized CX implant would be ~4 pumps worth (I max out at 20).
As the swelling and tenderness subsides, things will get better, and I can guarantee you that with a CX when you finally can FULLY deflate there will be no issues whatsoever with bothersome rigidity. I can squeeze my cylinders to the point that my penis looks like a mold of the inside of my fist. I don't do that, of course, but I can squeeze out so much fluid that there's almost nothing in the cylinders at all. There is ZERO rigidity. AMS has the more supple cylinders over Coloplast, and the AMS flaccid is known for it's comfort.
It's still early, there are a LOT of changes still to come. IT'S BEEN A WEEK!

I feel like I should add an observation to my previous post to you. There is another factor at play in your flacid state. Where is all this new penis length & associated hardware going to be kept? In my case, my dr claims that I have a large scrotum. His opinion came to me as a surprise because hey...its normal to me. Here is where I think your issue might be. Even though I have a large scrotum. It is tight. Meaning I don't have saggy balls. So to a certain degree my scrotum holds my implanted flacid penis up & out. Much like a shelf would hold it up.
Could this be your situation also?

True there will be a lot of changes. For me - I ended up activating my pump and cycling a bit early - but I can confirm my new flaccis was the same as the flaccid I came out of the OR with. While it may not be as huge as some - it's defenitely WAY more than I had prior to surgery. Even if it DOES soften up I don't think I'll be as small as I was flaccid (the cylinders will still push forward and out along with the pump inside the testes - btw I don't have swelling down there either).
Definitely agree though - its early for some of us - results may vary - see store for details.
