Slow healing incision
I am 5 weeks post op. The incision from the implant surgery has still not healed completely. Has anyone else had this happen? If so did it eventually heal on it’s own or did you have to do something else to get it to heal?

Has the wound sealed or still being held together with the stiches?

Most of the incision has closed but there is small part that is still being held together with stitches. It keeps oozing an orangey color liquid. Does not appear to be infected.

Next question then, are you a smoker, have been a smoker recently? Also whats your calorie intake been like and would you consider your self "fit"?

Not to raise an alarm or anything but I'd definitely contact your doctor about the oozing.

I’ve never smoked. Calorie intake is the same as it’s always been. I’m pretty fit for a 73 year old. The surgeon was ready last week to go back in and possibly take everything out but he also gave me a wait and see option. That’s what I’m doing now. He ran a culture and it came back with no infection. I’m not diabetic either.

hmm try upping that calorie intake a bit, your body burns plenty more calories when healing from surgery, make sure your getting plenty of proteins, nuts chicken ect all fantastic stuff to speed along healing. They say on the high end its about 15- 20 cals per pound of body weight when in recovery. Do that for a week and see how you get it on. Its what worked well in my recovery, i was eating well in excess i gained about 8lbs over the 3 week period, i slowed right down now as the majority of the healing process has been done and even i can tell my healing has also slowed.

I second what others said regarding upping your calorie intake, in particular in the form of proteins. I would add that consuming loads of probiotics (kimchi, miso soup, kefir), antioxidants (tea, cranberries, blueberries) will help your healing by boosting your immune system. Likewise, cutting down your sugar intake will help as sugar is a know inflammatory and studies have shown that it slows down the healing of wounds. I personally completely cut out refined sugars of my diet starting 10 days before surgery and continue to do so at 18 days post surgery.
30 years old French with ED caused by priapism episodes at the age of 15. Implanted with 21cm + 3cm RTEs AMS 700 CX MS pump on 05/12/2024 by Dr Sébastien Beley. Pills had lost most of their potency, injections worked but were painful and inconvenient.
Re: Slow healing incision
Sounds similar to what I had. The problem look clearly to me like the desolving stitches weren't dissolving and it couldn't heal around the holes and was oozing. The incision looked to be well healed. Some of them came out with some tugging. The rest I cut and they healed quickly.
