Journal of Sorts
I'm going to keep this minimal and probably stream of consciousness.
Day-0
In recovery. It started off uncomfortable and moved into hurts. Now back into uncomfortable after they gave me the equivalent of an oxycodone (Tylenol plus Percocet). I have been prescribed Tylenol and Meloxicam for home. I saw doctor who said things didn't go quite to plan and they had to put the reservoir near middle of abdomen.
I've been drinking fluid and tried to urinate for 20 minutes. A bit came out bloody and it burned pretty bad. I need to urinate to get out. I'm kinda dreading more. For now, more water.
Showing up this morning I was spooked. My calves started itching yesterday and I scratched unconsciously, so had a bit of a rash. They weren't worried so . . . Okay.
I didn't sleep last night and came to surgery early, arriving 5:20 am.
From the portal it looks like I ended up with a 21cm AMS CX with MS pump. I'm fine with the MS based on the Tenacio failure someone reported a few days ago.

Day-0 145pm
Finally squeezed some urine out. They gave me Pyridium to help with the burning, which is the biggest problem right now.

Congrats! Things are going to be/get weird during early recovery. Just know that it will pass, follow cycling instructions etc and before you know it you will be so at home with your implant.
Re: Journal of Sorts
Congratulations!!!
Now - be patient. Healing up from this surgery (was it Infrapubic or Penescrotal? - i.e. through your testicles or pubic area) your recovery will take time. Infrapubic is a bit quicker but has different challenges for the proceedure.
Be warned - you will probably experience pain - and varying degrees of it as your nerves recover. I was in intense pain after surgery - and mine was in a surgical center NEXT to the hospital - I almost asked to be admitted as the pain was bad (was prescribed Ibupropherin, Tylenol, and Dilauded). I spent about five days in bed resting. Sitting up and getting out of bed or a chair is a challenge for a while. I'm approaching week 5 with a lot better outlook now - and am mostly healed (incision just has some scabbing left).
Also - be patient - size will come back as I understand - it will take time depending on how you were sized.
Where did you have your surgery? GBMC here (Greater Baltimore Medical Center) Chesepeake Urology center. I was surprised. Came in at 6am, home by 2pm. WAY fast - had a drain for a week and catheter for a day.
Good luck on your healing and again congrats!!!

Day-0-4pm
Home. They were kinda rushing me out by the end but I was urinating.
I got the one jockstrap. Ordered one off Amazon but I'm not sure the one I had or the one on order are tight enough to keep it "pointed toward my head.". Right now I have a pair of tighter jockey shorts on with gauze between the penis and scrotum. The one from the hospital is in the wash. Between dribbling and blood it needs it.
Gonna drink a protein drink and lie down.

Thank you for the words of experience. Penoscrotal but they had trouble placing the reservoir so there might be something above, too--that's where the drain is placed. I haven't looked too hard.

You weren't kidding about this part! I talked to two of the super high volume guys--nerve blocks or no, I think I made the right call staying local, at least for me.

My drain was in my groin - next to my testicles. My resevoir is in my abdomen as well as I had RALP last year - so they tend to NOT put it deep inside of you due to movement of the bladder.

Yeah - this was my biggest concern as to why I went local. I'm about a 3 hour drive from NYC - but I didn't want to sit in a car that long or fly either. I do POORLY with pain - so I went local. Glad I did - turns out you DON'T need a high volume doc to get good results.

It looks from the surgical notes like they tried everywhere else, didn't find somewhere they liked, and then opened up the abdomen. I was under 90 minutes when they said 40 beforehand. Figures I'd have to go the long way around.
