No mention of pulling pump or instruction to not keep penis in same position

Postby twelvepillarscup » Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:04 pm

My doctor never instructed me to pull on the pump for the AMS 700 CX but on a handout he gave me, it reads: "THE DAY AFTER your procedure, please begin to gently pull down on the pump mechanism and perform deep tissue massage to the pump area in the scrotum EVERY TIME YOU GO TO URINATE." I would be concerned about doing this though since I never was shown how to.

Additionally I read somewhere that I should avoid keeping the penis in the same position. Is this accurate? I'm not sure how many different positions it can really be put in at the moment.

Pulling down: that's necessary if your surgeon does an infrapubic incision, shouldn't be needed if he's doing penoscrotal - that's one of the benefits of penoscrotal. If your surgeon did an infrapubic incision, I'd go back and ask him for instructions.

The way I understand it, once you can manipulate your penis (swelling and stitches are healed) you want to prevent a permanent bend of the penis to any one side, that's why some YouTube videos talk about letting it hang when you're at home, but pinning it up against your abdomen when you go out. Hopefully someone who is farther along in the healing process can expand on this?

I was never instructed on pulling down on the pump or positions after my implant. Never did either. It turned out fine.
Honestly after my implant I knew nothing about what I should have been doing. Didn't find Frank Talk until 5 months later and by then I was healed and using it.

I had penoscrotal and my Dr told me to pull the pump. But I'm too swollen so he said I could wait a week or two. Is there a point in time where you can't pull the pump down anymore ?

Interesting -

So on my paperwork "pull down gently on the pump" was crossed out with "DO NOT" written over it. The doctor told me thats for infrapubic, NOT for penoscrotal. So - depends on which kind of surgery you had.

equusAz: What he said.

As long as the bottom of the pump is at or near the bottom of your scrotum, I don't see why you'd need to pull it down any further.
