Do you feel your reservoir?

Postby Discovernew » Sat Mar 08, 2025 6:28 am

I am wondering if people feel the reservoir after some time?

It's been about 5 months since my first surgery and i still feel the reservoir on my left side inside my body on a daiy basis. It is not a pain, but sometimes it is a slight discomfort. I just know it's there all the time. It's on my left side.

Just for the record, its not palpable or visible, but i just feel there is something inside my body.

I wonder if anyone else feels it or not at all.

Is the discomfort constant?

I felt twinges of pain and discomfort for months after my surgery, including the reservoir.

I'm 6'1" and 179 lbs, so I don't have much fat. My reservoir creates a slight bump under my skin that's only noticeable me.

I felt some discomfort initially, but that went away. I can feel it still at times when pressure is put on it with tight pants or even a seat belt for a long period. Also feel it at times on the bike, although not any discomfort. I can also touch and feel it, but it is not currently visible, although it may be if I ever get back into better shape. Others wouldn’t feel it unless I pointed it out.

Im not thin but don’t carry much fat, my revision was mainly to put the reservoir in deeper in my lower right abdomen, I still feel it especially when doing sit ups but at least its not sticking out. There are pics somewhere on here, Lol.

What was the revision for exactly? You were feeling pain or what were your symptoms?

I felt the reservoir in me for the first few months, but that was probably the healing process. Now I can't feel it, can't even poke where I know it is and feel it. But I gained about 20 pounds last year when doc put me on a heavy round of prednisone after another event. Prior to the weight gain if I poked hard enough, I could sort of feel it.

Initially equipped with AMS which was replaced with Titan. First reservoir was removed and new one positioned in same location. Never felt anything to this point.

Never any pain from reservoir, but on first surgery it was too close and stuck on my right side down there, it looked like I had a tumor it was not ok, the doctor agreed it not a great placement. There are pictures on here if you did a bit. Anyway after the first infection cleared he went in and put the pouch much deeper in my abdomen and its not noticeable at all but on some exercises I notice it being there but don’t hurt. Sit ups are the worse for its saying hi :)
Love my implant hopefully it’s going to last a long time.

Discovernew,

I'm about 5 weeks post-op and not cycling yet, but I can just barely feel a difference in the contour of my abdomen where I think the reservoir is located. I start cycling in a couple weeks and maybe the additional fluid will make it feel different ? I've been inflated 70+% since surgery so I don't think there's much in the reservoir right now.

Side note - I have a "counter incision" (separate incision) for the reservoir in my left abdomen. It had to be placed there due to other issues, but the counter incision makes it easy to locate where the reservoir should be. So far the only associated pain is with the counter incision's stitches.

Careful with the Prednisone, Old Guy. It’s an immune suppressant, and can potentially lead to infection around the implant. That happened to someone on here.
