How did you use your toy AMS MS "Practise" Pump?

While patiently working my way through recovery and waiting another 5 weeks until activation I decided to read the documentation etc.
In hospital they gave me a little plastic "goodie bag" with a bunch of stuff in it.
- Patient form with all of my surgery and device details, which looks like are now registered with Boston Scientific.
- Implant card for airport security, which I filled out and laminated. Now in my wallet.
- Patient Guide for the prosthesis and pump, which I have read, mostly.
- There is also a replica MS pump on a key ring with quick reference card attached. See photo.
My question is, what is the best way to use or practise with this toy pump while I'm waiting to activate the real one?
Is there a preferred technique apart from what's described in the user guide?
Some methods seem to feel a bit easier than others, but this pump is obviously not inside my scrotum with actual tubes attached.
Did you do x number of reps per day?
Did you not bother with it at all?
