I have found implant journals that other guys have done extremely helpful. Now it’s my turn to help. I’ve been a FrankTalk member since 2019. I stumbled across FrankTalk when I was searching online for a better price for my Trimix. FrankTalk was a revelation. I had already been dealing with ED for nearly 10 years by that point. Here was a wealth of information and a community of guys sharing their experience and encouraging one another. Amazing.
MY ED STORY:
When I turned 40 I mentioned to my primary care doc that I was struggling to stay hard when wearing a condom. He prescribed Viagra and that did the trick. For the next 5 or 6 years I continued with pills switching between Viagra, Levitra, Cialis, and different doses as my ED progressed.
ED was a surprise to me. I’m fit and healthy with none of the related medical conditions that can cause ED. I don’t drink or smoke, eat reasonably healthy, and go to the gym. But when I was in my late 40s pills were no longer enough. My primary doc referred me to a urologist. That urologist examined me and gave me a trial shot of Trimix. It was amazing to be rigidly hard on demand.
Over the next few years the TriMix dose required went up and up. My prescriptions got stronger and stronger. I got quite skilled at adjusting my dose as my ED progressed. Eventually the dose of prostaglandin got so high that I started to notice the dreaded prostaglandin ache. I was on a very concentrated QuadMix. We took the prostaglandins out my final mix. My final mix was essentially BiMix plus Atropine. If I took a large dose and wore a decent cock ring that gave me a usable erection for about 45 minutes without the ache. That worked for several years. As my ED progressed the concentration of my mix got stronger and stronger until the compounding pharmacy said it was as strong as they could make it. At the end I had been injecting 1cc (100 units) of that mix, wearing a cock ring, and MAYBE getting 10-20 minutes of useful erection from it.
I had known that implant was on the horizon but now it looked like it was here.
My insurance seemed to cover it and luckily I live in NYC so Dr Eid is local to me.
THINKING ABOUT IMPLANT:
During the last couple years I sought out conversations with implanted guys. I learned a lot from those talks and appreciated the guys that were willing to demonstrate their implant over video chat. They looked natural flaccid, and seemed rock hard erect, and most importantly the guys seemed universally thrilled with their implant.
But since I continued to get erections (although not firm enough to be useful) I was on the fence.
I was lucky enough to have 3 in-person show and tell demonstrations.
To be able to see and feel the flaccid state, the guy describing what it’s like r/t dressing, appearance, comfort was really useful. All three let me squeeze the bulb to inflate and feel what the pump feels like in the scrotum. And to feel the extremely rigid erection state was a powerful incentive to get an implant. I have not been that rigid (even with injections) since I was a teen.
Those in person demos got me to pull the trigger and make an appointment with doctor Eid.
GETTING IMPLANTED:
I had three appointments with Dr Eid. The first was largely informational. He asked questions about my experience with ED and my level of erectile function. Then he described the different products and his methodology.
The second appointment was a doppler study and examination. He determined that I had tremendous blood flow into my penis, but I had such severe venous leak that the blood wasn’t trapping in the penis. It was flowing right back out. Classic severe venous leak. This made a lot of sense since I still got erections that made my penis big but not firm enough. And it made sense that a decent cockring was helpful. The cock ring decreased the venous leak.
The third appointment was the preop visit. He did a cystoscopy and a urine flow scan to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems placing a Foley catheter during the procedure or my being able to urinate after.
I got medical and cardiac clearance from my own doctors as well as labs drawn and an EKG.
The surgery date was set for March 25th, 2025 and the countdown began.
