Numb

I’m 4 days post implant. The pain is manageable with some pain (a 4) coming from the interior of my penis. But, the skin of my penis is completely numb … including the glans. Before I completely freak out, does anyone have experience with this? Please, please tell me that this is to be expected and is temporary. To come this far and wind up with a numb dick would be devastating.

Yes, that is normal. Between the anesthesia and all the other things doc just did to you, the nerves have been overstimulated and shut down. It will be a bit for those nerves to return to normal. Four days post is usually when many guys are asking themself what did I let them do to me? Healing from an implant takes up to one full year, although most of the healing will occur in the first few months.

Yes Osprey, it takes a while to heal and for the nerves to come back. I still had pain, discomfort and numbness at 8 weeks when I first attempted PIV sex, even though I was cleared at 6 weeks.

Old Guy is right, it just takes time to heal, for me things got way way better at 6 months. All of us are different and heal at different rates.

I'm three years out from surgery and I love my Bionic Dick.

Hang in there Osprey,
SWorks

Thanks. That is encouraging. There is a world of difference between what doctors and or the manufacturer will tell you. This forum is entirely useful. Are there any other “numb” experiences out there that someone would like to talk about?

Totally normal! Your urologist/surgeon should have prepared you for this common post-op numbness. It may last a number of months, but you will (slowly) regain sensation. It’s not uncommon for bionic guys to say it takes up to a full year to feel truly recovered and normal. That was certainly my experience. Be patient. Be kind with yourself. You’ll get there!

This worried me initially as well, but it seems normal for most. At nearly 4 weeks post op I have numbness on the underside of my dick, above the penoscrotal incision. I'm assuming it's surgical trauma caused by the incision and should resolve over time. Most other places feel OK but the partially inflated cylinders causing my 24/7 partial erection are putting outward pressure along the corporeal channel. That gives me a mildly sore dick, but only numbness underneath towards the base. Glans and frenulum feel pleasantly normal. So it's a mix of sensations, or lack thereof.
