Prostate Cancer treatment w/Implant

Postby Jack1104 » Mon Mar 31, 2025 9:08 am

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had experience with being diagnosed with prostate cancer after they already had an implant and how it affected the implant based on the kind of treatment.

Thank you

My PSA had shot up due to inflammation in the months leading up to my implant.

I double checked with my urologist that having an implant would NOT hinder prostate cancer treatment. I was willing to put off getting an implant. My urologist assured me that all treatment options would be available regardless and having an implant wouldn’t be a problem. They said there was not need to wait.

I proceeded with implant and just got it done last week.

Thanks for the anecdote GW!
Was the elevated PSA a result of inflammation or did it end up being prostate cancer?

My PSA went from 1.3 to 3.6 in one year and my urologist is right now treating me for prostatitis, although I don’t have any symptoms.

The rise and fall of my PSA has been so huge and fast that the three urologists I spoke with uniformly said, “that’s not cancer, that’s inflammation.”

Apparently cancer has a slower increase.

So my urologists were NOT interested in biopsy or even an MRI.

Being treated for inflammation seems reasonable. If it doesn’t resolved then MRI might be the next step.
