I'm having a difficult recovery.
To his credit, Dr Levine did recommend the AMS for my penis and my desires and expectations. But I was stubborn. I wanted something that would give me the least complications. Now I have more complications.
It's early since I am only Day 4 post-surgery, but this thing won't bend into place and is uncomfortable pointing it up towards my belly. It twists toward the right at 3:30 position. It also feels hard as a rock, not rubbery like I expected it would. I knew the core was metal, but I expected the outer layer to be softer and the metal coil to be more pliable.
I also had to be catheterized after surgery and then returned to central Illinois. My local ER wouldn't take the catheter out and looked at me like I was from outer space when I explained I had a penile prothesis. I had to have my elderly mother drive me to her brother's house and then take a medical service to Dr Levine's office in downtown Chicago just to get the catheter removed.
I've told everyone this for a varicocele, but I think everyone knows more is going on,
I see Dr .Levine in a month. If he can't bend into place I will have to take a medical leave from work and get a revision to an IPP as soon as possible.
I chose the MPP to make my life less complicated, but it has become more complicated.

Mark, I'm sorry to hear of your challenges. I don't have experience with MPP's, but have read that they have a "break-in period" just like IPP's. Best wishes for a quick resolution.

Were you ever given the opportunity by your doctor to touch, bend and feel the malleable rods during your pre-op visits? Please avoid any bending attempts for at least 8 weeks. This was an invasive surgery and your tissues need time to heal properly before you flex and bend them. What diameter rods did you receive?

He told me to start putting ointment on four days after surgery and showering five days. He said on day five to start moving it side to side and up and down very gingerly. But it doesn't go down or to the left

Far too early to bend. It's going to "soften" with time. For the first week and a half after surgery, mine stuck out more or less straight out. At around the 3-week mark, it started to hang more normally. I can understand your frustration, but you just went through a surgery and need time to heal.
Born 1990. ED since age 20 after a bicycle accident. Coloplast Genesis malleable implanted December 2024 by the great Dr. Laurence Levine in Chicago.

Man you are 4 days post op..why did you assume what you are having are complications and not the usual recovery period? Did you follow up with dr.levine ? What did he tell you to expect in recovery ? I believe it's too early to bend it...what doctors usually say it's bendable 2 weeks post op and not before...and what I've seen from anecdotes it's no less than a month in most cases (genesis only...others way longer if they will bend at all)...even ipps have their own hustle in recovery period that extend to couple of months or more.
Believe it or not, I am in full agreement with tooyoung.

Re: Mallealbe rods aren't malleable
11mm genesis must have great shape memory. Anyway it's too early to bend it. But if your implant not bend at all it can be sign of prothesis infection.
30 yo. Get tactra in 30, 11mm rods. Lost 5mm in length and 5mm in width. Regret about getting implant.
