Is cystoscopy possible with MPP ?

Postby thx1138 » Wed Sep 10, 2025 5:10 pm

I may be having routine cystoscopy for the rest of my life.
IPP may not be good due to scar tissue. So; Mpp may be
the way to go if the constant size does not prohibit the
cystoscopy.

I have an IPP and have to have a Cystoscopy every so often for life. I have not had one since my implant, but have appointment with new uro in December. So soon after I will be having one.
If that camera goes through a deformed prostate it’s going through my urethra.

What’s your thoughts, IPP may not be good due to scar tissue?

AI Overview
An inflatable penile prosthesis can make cystoscopy more difficult, but it depends on the specific circumstances. While the implant itself is located in the erectile tissue and does not directly obstruct the urethra, potential complications and anatomical changes can increase the complexity of the procedure.

AI Overview
Yes, a malleable (semi-rigid) penile prosthesis can make cystoscopy more difficult. The constant rigidity of the implant can straighten and stiffen the penis, potentially creating challenges for urologists who need to pass instruments through the urethra to visualize the bladder.

Been having a cystoscopy for 2 years now after being diagnosed with bladder cancer. I was having one done every 3 months and other than the side effect of the catheter making me have to pee NOW for a day or two I've had no other issues. I am now at 6-month intervals, and my last one was the easiest to get over. I don't think there would be any difference between an IPP and an MPP, the catheter tube goes in the same way up the urethra.

UpNorth,

As I understand it; abdomen scar tissue can make reservoir placement difficult for the surgeon. Also; If I recall, in the case
of bladder cancer, the reservoir can potentially erode or damage a neobladder. So; IPP may not be the be the way to go for me.
However; there is alternate placement, so called sub-muscular. I have no clue about how sub-muscular works, In any case;If an IPP is deflated, I don’t see why it would be a problem with cystoscopy; but then, I am not a Dr.
