Post cystoscopy drama…thoughts???

Postby wanttokno » Thu Sep 18, 2025 11:54 am

Greetings gentlemen. Yesterday I had a cystoscopy performed by my surgeon. Everything was fine, except for a fleeting sharp pain when he passed the scope through my internal urinary sphincter. I was given a single Cipro to take to eliminate the possibilities of an infection setting in due to the scope. Every time I’ve urinated since the procedure, the pain has become much more intense and persistent. Originally it was just a deep pain that I felt was from the irritated sphincter, but has since become a molten lava razor blade, like feeling virtually the entire length of my penis every time I go to the bathroom and it lasts throughout the entire emptying of my bladder.
I’ve got a call into my doctor’s office, but haven’t heard back from the nurse yet and was just wondering what others experiences had been in this situation.
Thanks for any advice or insights given.

I hope you pain subsides and goes away…I had this done a few years back and had soreness and discomfort when I urinated for a couple days but it did go away on its own…mine felt like the tissue lining the urethra got nicked and it hurt but then burned when I peed..

If the pain is getting worse and going the length of your urethra you may have gotten a urinary tract infection.

I would ge to my urologist ASAP. If they aren’t responsive I would consider going to an urgent care center and get a script for broad coverage antibiotics that would knock out most UTIs.

I get cystoscopy's and never had that much pain afterwards. Couple of days it will sting when I pee but that's it. Did you have the procedure while awake? I have them knock me out. I assume being totally relaxed while the catheter is inserted may help. Doc also gives me some prescription to ease bladder pain, turns my pee bright orange. That also helps with soreness in the penis.
Definitely get in touch with your doc asap since the pain is increasing.

It’s not unusual to have burning pain and irritation while urinating after cystoscopy or catheterization. This can last a couple of weeks, but should subside slowly. I’ve been given meds to help with the irritation. They work. Ask your doctor

Valuable information thus far.
Mine have either healed within two days or no discomfort at all. I’ve even had to a sound used prior to one. He is not my uro anymore.

A urologist performed a cystoscopy on me two years ago. He prescribed a weak antibiotic to ward off infection. Long story short, I developed sepsis. Spent two days in the hospital, given high doses of antibiotics Was lucky to receive proper medical care to address.

I just went through the same procedure and it was one week of discomfort. I'd imagine that you are good right now since your post is from last week.

Gentlemen, thank you for your words of encouragement, it’s resolved. I finally got back to the doctor the next day though I only saw his nurse as he was in surgery. I was given a prescription for antibiotics and tramadol and told that it would get better.
I believe that I now know what happened. Because I gain an inch and a half with a Titan when going from flaccid to erect there is a portion of the implant that folds like an accordion when flaccid just inside my body. I’m thinking that it’s just possible that my urethra zigs and zags along with the cylinders and whenever the doctor pushed the scope through it really did a number on my tender flesh. One thing that seemed to allow the healing to really begin was keeping myself 60-70% inflated. It had seemed as if when left flaccid, when I would go to pee, every single time I was being torn open again. Once I started keeping myself semi erect the healing began within hours and within 24 hours I was back at 90%. Now it’s almost as if it never happened except that it seems that my urine flow may be slightly improved. A blessing in disguise?

Have you tried Alfuzion for urine flow?
