Guys,
In my postings under AMS700LGX....excited about surgery I asked if anyone else had been instructed to use a daily vacuum therapy protocol prior to surgery. I have continued doing research on this subject and came across an article published in Advances in Sexual Medicine online in January, 2013. Here is the link if any of you are interested in reading it: www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=27133
I am still interested in hearing from you guys on whether you used a daily vacuum preparation protocol and if you did, was it effective in your opinion?

Re: Vacuum Preparation for IPP surgery
Guys,
For some reason that link won't work. Instead, use Google search for "Vacuum Preparation for Inflatable Penile Implant Surgery" and one of the choices listed should be Vacuum Preparation, Optimization of Cylinder Length and.... Clicking on that will get you to the article. Just click on PDF choice and then you'll have the article to read, save or print.
I find this article (published in January of this year online for Advances in Sexual Medicine) very interesting and may be relevant to others who have been asked to follow a daily vacuum therapy protocol before surgery. I hope by doing this, the outcome will be satisfactory for me. The only difference between this article and my Urologist is that my uro recommended 45 minutes twice OR MORE per day for the next two weeks before surgery.
Let me know what you think.

Re: Vacuum Preparation for IPP surgery
Dr Kramer said that he thought it really did not make much of a difference at all unless it was going to be awhile til I had surgery. It was only going to be 6 weeks since the time I saw him until the surgery. He said he would prescribe it if I wanted to. Since I am able still able to get an erection (although unusable due to the bend) I decided to do without it. I go in for surgery on Thursday morning. I feel like a kid about to jump off the high dive for the first time. Nervous but excited at the same time.
50 yr old. 21cm Titan implanted on June 20th 2013

Re: Vacuum Preparation for IPP surgery
proactive,
One of the facts that I was most interested in was that most of the corpora cavernosa expansion while using daily vacuum protocol is gained within the first two weeks. I have been using vacuum therapy since mid-February so my urologist feels that I might benefit from continuing and even increasing my vacuum therapy protocol. I am mainly doing it so that the urologist will have a much easier time dilating the cavernosa and measuring more accurately when he chooses the size of the cylinders. It should also make it much easier to slide the cylinders into the cavernosa with minimal force.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I'll be thinking about you Thursday and I know what you mean about being excited. My surgery is scheduled for July 9 and it's almost impossible for me to get much sleep because I am SO EXCITED to begin this new chapter in my life and with my relationship with my wife of 40 years.
Blessings to you as you walk this path. Keep in touch.
