I’ve been a member of FrankTalk for a long time and have learned a lot from reading other guys’ experiences. I’m now at a point where I’m seriously considering an implant, and before making such a permanent decision, I would really appreciate some fresh opinions from guys who have actually been through this.
A little background:
- I currently take Cialis 5 mg daily.
Occasionally, I also use Vardenafil 10 mg before sex.
My erection usually starts out very good and can be completely firm.
The problem is that during sex I often lose the erection completely, and once I lose it, it is very difficult or impossible to get it back during that session.
I have noticed a very specific pattern: this seems to happen most often when I am trying to hold back ejaculation or delay orgasm. I can be very hard, start trying not to finish, and then suddenly the erection starts disappearing.
My morning/nocturnal erections are excellent—frequent, spontaneous, and extremely hard. Sometimes they actually seem better than erections during sex.
I have had Peyronie’s disease for more than 5 years, although fortunately I do not have any significant curvature.
I recently saw a surgeon who evaluated me and recommended moving to a penile implant. He seems quite confident that this is the right next step and is strongly recommending a Coloplast implant, presumably the Titan.
This is where I am struggling.
I understand why an implant can be life-changing for men with severe ED, but I keep asking myself whether I am really at that point, especially when I can still wake up with extremely strong natural erections.
At the same time, the unpredictability during sex is becoming frustrating. Having a great erection at the beginning doesn't help much if I don't know whether it will suddenly disappear halfway through.
My biggest fear is making an irreversible decision and later thinking, "I should have waited."
My second major fear is **length loss**.
I have recently noticed what seems to be some shrinkage/retraction compared with my previous size. Because of that, I have started using a VED to try to maintain or possibly recover whatever length I can before making a decision about surgery.
I would really appreciate hearing from guys with similar experiences, particularly regarding these questions:
1. Has anyone experienced this specific erection pattern?**
Strong erection initially, excellent morning erections, but losing the erection when trying to hold back ejaculation or delay orgasm? If so, did you ever figure out what was causing it?
2. Would you personally consider an implant when morning erections are still extremely strong?**
This is probably the question bothering me the most. Did anyone here get an implant while still having good spontaneous or morning erections but unreliable erections during intercourse? Looking back, was it the right decision?
3.Titan vs AMS 700: For guys with a history of Peyronie’s, even without significant curvature, did your surgeon recommend the Coloplast Titan or AMS 700 (CX/LGX)? What was the reasoning?
4. Why would a surgeon strongly prefer Coloplast in my situation?
Is there something about Peyronie’s, corporal fibrosis, rigidity, sizing, or future straightening that makes the Titan a better choice? Or could this simply be the surgeon's preferred device?
5. VED before surgery: Has anyone used a VED consistently for several weeks or months before implant surgery specifically to preserve or regain length? Did your surgeon recommend it, and did you feel it actually made a difference?
6. The length question: For those who were worried about size before surgery, how did your fully cycled post-op length compare with your previous *good natural erection* length—not your stretched flaccid length? Did you initially lose length and then regain some through cycling over the following months?
7. Titan and length over time: I have read experiences from Titan patients who say they gained some length during months of cycling. For those who experienced this, do you believe the cylinders actually accommodated additional corporal expansion over time, or was it mainly the tissues gradually stretching around the implant?
8. Sizing during surgery: How important is aggressive/proper sizing by the surgeon? Is surgeon technique and experience ultimately more important for preserving length than choosing Titan vs AMS?
9.Ejaculation and orgasm after implant: Since my current problem often begins when I try to delay ejaculation, I'm particularly interested in this. After an implant, did your sensation, orgasm, or ability to control/delay ejaculation change? Can you stay fully inflated regardless of what happens with arousal or ejaculation?
10. Regrets: This may be the most important question. For guys who still had some natural erectile ability before surgery: do you ever regret giving that up for an implant? Or did the reliability of the implant make you wish you had done it sooner?
I know nobody here can make this decision for me, and I’m not looking for medical advice from the forum. I'm mainly looking for real-world experiences from men who had to make a similar decision.
If you had strong morning erections but unreliable erections during sex, Peyronie’s, or major concerns about losing length, I would especially appreciate hearing your story.
Thanks in advance, guys. This forum has been an incredible source of real-world information, and I genuinely appreciate anyone willing to share their experience.
