9 Days Post-Op With Genitofemoral Nerve Pain

Postby CobraCobretti » Sat Sep 19, 2026 1:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm 48 years old and 9 days post-op from an infrapubic Rigicon Infla10 AX with Dr. Hakky. I'm having significant nerve-type pain on the right side of my scrotum/testicle, extending up toward where the reservoir is located on the right side.

Dr. Hakky instructed me to pull down on the pump daily after surgery and was planning to have me start cycling when I went to his office yesterday, but the pain has been too much to do either. I've attempted a few pull-downs over the past week, but I haven't been able to do much because every time I do, I get significant pain that continues for quite a while afterward. During the visit I had a scrotal ultrasound, and he noted I have a small hematoma on the left side and scrotal wall edema in general but nothing he was worried about.

I have a constant lower-level pain in that areas mentioned above which is manageable, but touching or handling my scrotum, especially on the right side, can cause severe burning, stabbing and aching pain during and afterward for some time.

Dr. Hakky believes the pain is from the genitofemoral nerve being irritated or similar nerve in the area by either the reservoir tubing, pump or reservoir, but more likely the tubing. He said it could potentially take 3 to 9 months to fully recede.

I'm hoping someone from here that may have experienced something similar can give me some perspective:

- Did you experience genitofemoral or similar nerve pain after your implant?
- How long did it take for the pain to significantly improve or go away?
- Were you able to start pulling down on the pump and cycling on schedule, or did you have to wait?
- Did anything in particular help with the nerve pain or make it resolve faster?
- Did the pain eventually completely resolve?

Three to nine months sounds like a long time, particularly if I'm unable to comfortably handle the pump and/or cycle. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar, regardless of IPP type.

I'm currently taking opiate pain medication, Tylenol, ibuprofen (sparingly, as it can bother my stomach), and Lyrica. So far, I don't seem to notice any real benefit from the Lyrica. I've been icing frequently as instructed.

Thanks in advance for any experiences or insight you can share.

I’ve been having pretty significant pain in my glans area and my Dr prescribed Gabapentin(neurotin) which does help with nerve pain specifically and don’t carry the side effects of opioids. If you take a bunch of it over several months it does require some weining to get off of it or suffer the withdrawal effects which weren’t too bad when I quit cold turkey after 4 months heavy use.
Born 1965 ED at 45 pills, shots all failed.
Implanted 5-22 Titan 20cm with 1cm RTE.
Revision 3-26 Titan 24cm with 1cm trimmed off.
Infection, salvage 5-26 Titan 24cm -1cm trimmed
Explanted 6-17
Implanted 9-2 Titan 22cm less 1 cm trimmed
