Surgery scheduled for 11/17!

Postby rickyspanish » Tue Oct 13, 2026 6:52 pm

Hey everyone,

I am getting my implant done on 11/17, and I am really excited! I am 51 and have been dealing with organic and psychological ED all my adult life. Pills worked until they didn't, and Trimix either works too well, to the point where I am on the cusp of going to the hospital, or it doesn't work at all. The psychological part of my ED has been the real killer, and it was born out of some past experience with girls I was in a relationship with who didn't take my ED well when it happened and said and did horrible things that I believe created a trauma around sex. It always stuck with me, and the ED caused sex anxiety whenever the medications didn't work, and usually it was because the anxiety overrode the medications. Although my wife understands my issue and my history around ED, it has made sex an anxious and negative experience for both of us...and I'm just done with it. I'm looking forward to getting an erection again and not having to fear that I'm going to lose it and go into an anxiety bout.

I have some questions about the implant and was wondering if anyone could help me with answers.

1) I understand that the glans stays the same size if it doesn't engorge properly. If that's the case, does sex feel any different? Does it look out of proportion when fully erect? Right now with Trimix, it's too engorged, and my wife doesn't like it. She does not like Trimix dick at all; it hurts her.
2) For those whose psychological ED was severe, how did your brain recover? I'm curious about this, as years of your brain viewing sex as a point of anxiety, or "threat", did it take time for you mentally to acclimate to sex and eliminate the anxiety around an erection?

Everyone is different, but not significantly different for me once fully healed and pain free. Sex is now better than ever. I now only get noticeable glans engorgement from PIV sex when approaching orgasm. It can swell a bit, but not like it was naturally. If I take Viagra beforehand it will usually engorge more, but I rarely bother as it isn't necessary (for me). My guess is that your wife will be happy with the result of a possibly softer/less engorged glans.

I can't really answer as my ED was caused physically by surgery, although the ED symptoms definitely caused me anxiety around sex. Hopefully some guys with similar experience to you will reply. But I can say that functionally you will be able to perform 100% reliably regardless of any anxiety. Getting and sustaining an erection is a purely mechanical exercise under your complete control. But what the psychological aspect could potentially affect is your ability to orgasm and the level of pleasure you experience. If so it may take some work to overcome, but once you know your erections are 100% reliable for as long as you want it's very common to have a surge in sexual confidence. It has been that way for me.

Ricky, congrats on scheduling your date.

I had ED my whole life, and the associated performance anxiety that comes with it. I am also 51, and I got the surgery two years ago after splitting with my wife.

To be honest I was not prepared for how much of a psychological impact it would have on me. I had buried my sexuality. To suddenly have a fully erect dick on demand for as long as I wanted was a huge confidence boost. But more importantly it was a transformation… I was finally the man I always wanted to be.

How did I handle it? To be honest a bit obsessively. I thought having a functional dick was going to marginally improve my sexual attractiveness. But I found the confidence drove it through the roof. After a few first encounters I found I was just an entirely different beast. Suddenly I was insatiable. I spent most of my day having sex or working on having sex by using apps. I started going to sex parties. My doc put me on Prep as I had multiple partners at a time. I went crazy, to say the least.

After two years of that I started to calm down a bit. I still sleep around a bit, but I am a lot calmer about it, less obsessive.

But I am a fundamentally changed person. Now I’m the person I could never be before. I don’t fear trying to seal the deal with a woman anymore; I just imagine myself as some sort of lothario sex god.

Of course, sex comes with all sorts of psychological entanglements. If it wasn’t one of my partners catching feelings for me, I was catching them for a few of them. Compulsive sex addicts tend to find other compulsive sex addicts… as a group we are all working through some stuff, lol.

Anyway. Your circumstances may be different, as you have a wife. But it has definitely been the experience of several guys on here that are lifelong sufferers to go a bit wild. You should be prepared for the idea that you might, possibly directed at your wife, possibly not.

Generally though, I wouldn’t trade anything about it at all. I wish I had gotten the implant a lot sooner. It is one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.

Be well, Leto

Hi RickySpanish
Are there gonna be 2 of us in Spain? Wow, send me a PM if you are resident…we could have cañas!
As Leto says, the psychological impact of not having to worry, is worth its weight in gold. Although I discovered what was a short period of time with ED, unlike some who have lived with it for many years, it doesn’t lessen the freight train that hits your confidence, your self-esteem, everything!
When you come out of surgery, recovery, training, and learning, you will be amazed at how quickly your body and mind can recover. That’s my experience so far, and I’m only about a month post-op!

Congrats on taking the leap, it’s a major life decision. What brand/type implant are you getting?

It’s shocking to me after one year how normal and natural the implant feels. It just feels like “my dick”, and I don’t really think about it being artificial except when I’m inflating or deflating it, but now even that feels like just a normal part of the sex act. Your brain adapts to the new reality, and the benefits *far* overpower any minor downsides.

Like LetoMan, I became a little sex crazed once I found a good partner who shared my strong libido. I’m having sex multiple times a day nearly every day for the past 9 months. That pace has continued, though we’re a little less frenetic about it now, lol.

I think you’ll be very happy with your decision.

Rickyspanish,

Congratulations on your surgery date! You won’t regret it.

I never used trimix injections, so I don’t know how that would have affected my wife.

The good thing about a Bionic dick is that it’s fully adjustable! Lol

If your wife doesn’t like a certain hardness then just dial it in to what she likes.

My wife likes it super hard, so I pump till I can’t pump anymore.
Sometimes while we’re having PIV sex she’ll ask me if it is as hard as I can get it. She likes the hardness of my bionic dick pulling up against her clit while we’re in missionary and I’m pulling my whole body upwards while I’m inside her, so I’ll pull out and give it a few more micro pumps to satisfy my wifey. This gives her an intense orgasm.

You guys will figure out what works best for you. I’ve had my Bionic dick for 5 years now and it has been fantastic not worry about my dick getting soft toward the end of PIV sex when I was using PDE5’s.

Good Luck
