Urge to inflate before given the green light
So how many here have inflated their implant before they went for the post op follow up?? I have 2 weeks left before visiting with my surgeon. Other than some drainage, everything looks REALLY good! I'm really anxious to see how it looks and would LOVE to inflate it...but I won't. I'm too worried that I won't be able to deflate it!
40 year old that had an aircraft accident 3 years ago (Aug 11, 2010). I had a spinal cord injury at L-1 that left me with partial paralysis. I'm able to walk some with effort. I have bowel/bladder/ED issues from the injury. Titan implant on Aug 12, 2013

So happy that everything is going good! I read that you can start pumping after 2 weeks limitating by pain, the problem as you said is the deflation, it would be really embarrasing if you have to go around with the hard pole lol. I would follow your surgeons instructions. Keep us updated!

I found the inflate quite quickly with no problem but the deflate button was a different matter could not find it at all then once I did could not use it. Resist if you can until the swelling is well under control.

Re: Urge to inflate before given the green light
I experimented a couple of weeks before official activation and was scolded by the Drs nurse for doing it. However, the Dr wasn't surprised at all when I went for activation. I think he would have been more surprised if I hadn't. If you do it, just make sure you know how to deflate it first. For me I practiced numerous times squeezing the deflate buttons before trying to inflate it. Its not just the risk of embarrassment. The first time I inflated it HURT. The pain didn't start immediately but increased over about 30-60 seconds, so it was deceptive in that I didn't realize as I was inflating that I was past the point of comfort. If that happens to you, you will be VERY unhappy if you have trouble deflating it.
