Hi all,
Alot of the "Chat Boys" have asked how I am progressing and more than a few have indicated I should post an update, so here goes: I am doing GREAT! Sure, there is some residual pain in my glans where the partially inflated cylinders interact with the inside if the chambers, but it is barely noticable. The abdominal area where the reservoir is placed can act up a little once in awhile, especially if I get out of a chair too quickly or I move a certain way. Otherwise, there is no swelling at all. If I were to offer any advice to someone looking to go forward with this procedure it would be this: Listen to what the Pros instruct you as it relates to pain expectations as well as pain control. Methodist Hospital did a fantastic job of keeping me ahead of the pain curve and I maintained that same protocol when I got home. Maybe I was just fortunate in that I never experienced excruciating discomfort and I am sure heeding their instructions was a big part of that. Also, ice was applied to the area the entire time I was in the hospital as well as the first day home. I experienced very little scrotal swelling and NO bruising. Incision pain is pretty much gone EXCEPT when my briefs catch a stitch, that smarts! I feel I am doing well. i contact Mayo every Monday and speak with Deidre, Dr Nehra's nurse, and give her an update. I tried to get a little relaxation of the lifting and weight restrictions from her this past week and was answered back with a very emphatic "Absolutely Not"! Mayo likens this surgery to that of hernia repair, only inverse, and she said it takes that long to heal. She said I did NOT want to have to have that area "fixed because of over exertion. I will be a good boy! Besides, it is Deidre who will instruct me at activation on Jan. 13, I don't want to be on her s hit list! I am back to work a couple days a week part time and will work into that as I see fit. All in all, I am very pleased with my progress. I want to again thank you all for the thoughts the encouragement and the concern, I have truly embraced it all. I can't wait for jan 13, I will keep u posted! Matt
