Is numbness normal early on
After 4 weeks post op I was able to have sex last night. But my penis was totally numb. Couldn't feel anything. Is this normal for being so early on? How long does it take for the sensation to return?

tcasper1,
The Implant surgery in itself does not cause numbness ... does this numbness only occur when fully pumped? In most cases the lack of sensation is due to pre-existing nerve damage ...

I had some loss of sensation but not total numbness. It went back to normal in time

Yeah sensation will return in time. It takes a while though. Just be patient. I still have a little numbness after 6 months.

I am now 38 days post op from duel implant (AMS 700 & AMS 800) I too am experiencing numbness to the point of not yet reaching a climax in the 2 times we've played around with sex. PS I didn't tell my wife as I turned the tables and put her to sleep this time, she thought it was great. Bottom line I'll just wait for time to cure the numbness.

Re: Is numbness normal early on
It's been longer than a few years since my duel implant, everything had gone great until last Aug when my AMS 800 (Urinary Control System) stopped working, it was a big life changer as I lost complete urine control and required 5 to 6 heavy pads each day. I returned to WPAFB Hosp, Dr who preformed my implant had been transferred to Alaska. I saw a new Dr and to my luck both Dr's were friends and had known each other for a long time. They talked to each other and to me and we decided replacing the AMS 800 was the way to go if I was up to it (I'm 79) I said lets go for it, operation took place 2 weeks later and did not require an over night stay, there was a 30 day healing period before it was actuated. I can now get by all day without a pad, I still wear the lightest pad I can find on my very active days just to be safe. As far as the AMS 700 it has worked and continues to work great. I'm sure it will out live me. Bottom line I don't need/desire the amount of sex I did back in my 30's, but my wife is only 50 and just the fact of knowing I can perform just as good or better than I could then is an unbelievable self esteem builder.
Re: Is numbness normal early on
I'm at day 31 after implant on 10/28/19 of my AMS 700CX 15cm via penoscrotal incision. I have a little numbness in the ventral area near the glans (underside of the penis, next to the head). I mentioned it to my doctor at 2-week checkup and he said there shouldn't be any nerve damage because the nerves go through the top (dorsal) area of the penis but it might be numb due to swelling and should start to get better.
I also have some numbness in the penoscrotal incision area but as I recall, I had similar paresthesia or numbness in the skin on the back of my hand when I had tendon surgery about 8 years ago and it's all better now so the numbness of the incision should improve dramatically in a few weeks. The ventral penile numbness is already getting better at one month. By 6 weeks it should be all but gone.
To be clear though, even with the numbness I can still stimulate to orgasm so that's not an issue in my case.

I’m 4 months out and had some numbness along most of the underside of my penis from the base almost all the way up to the gland. Some of it is now gone and I think it will continue to go away. Just like Wayne, I’ve had this type of numbness after other trauma.

Umm...what the hell is a dual implant? Does it mean your nut sac houses two pumps?
As for the numbness...say what? Maybe the day of surgery and after, but after 4 months? Crap!

I can tell you for sure that numbness from surgery can last months, and even years. I still have some numbness in the scar of my transplant, 23 years ago.
Implanted September 12nd 2019. Coloplast Titan OTR 20 cm + 1 cm RTE. Dr Cruz (Spain). Liver transplanted. Born in 1967. ED since 24 in different degrees. Pills stopped working in March 2019. Injections caused much pain.
