One more hurdle cleared for becoming bionic

Postby ShopMan » Mon Dec 01, 2014 7:15 pm

Today I had my pre-op physical. Passed with flying colors. Except I haven't heard on the blood work I did. But those are always in the normal range for me. Now I am waiting to hear from the hospital for their updates and confirmations. Still on track for Dec. 16 surgery. (7:30 A.M.) By mid afternoon, if everything goes as planned, I am told I will be back home. So far I have not been at all nervous. But that may set in when I am down to the last couple of days before surgery. Hopefully not.
I'll keep you guys updated. As many have done before me I will probably post a new thread on progress after surgery. Wish me luck. This forum has been a great help. Thanks all.

Hi Charlie

Glad you made the decision, you won't regret it at all. I was implanted 4/3/14 and once I decided to go forward I had nothing but positive thoughts about the upcoming date. After the results I had I can honestly say there is nothing to worry about now, your days of worry will soon be over

Get your pain meds shop man. A few extra can't hurt even if you don't need them. Xanax is a great help during week one. Post op day 19. Feel a hell of a lot better than a week ago.

Thanks guys for your response. From all I have read on here the first week will be the worst. But I will keep looking at the goal and the light at the end of the tunnel.

And you may well be one of the many people who experience an easy recovery, as I did.

Thanks man. I noticed your age is near mine. Maybe us older farts are perhaps tougher. lol Seriously, that is what I am hoping for. I have had several surgerys in my life including back surgery and a hernia repair done at the same time. Pain was present but nothing I could not easily handle. If memory serves me I didn't even touch the prescription pain meds. Just over the counter stuff. So, hopefully I won't have too bad a time. I am sure there will be challenges but I am up for it knowing what the rewards will be. My wife is even anxious.
