I arrived in San Francisco early this afternoon. I have a 5am wake up call so I can be at UCSF at 6am. When you are NPO at midnight I'm grateful for an early morning surgery. If all goes well I'll be home Sat. Not looking forward to the 85 mile journey home on bumpy CA highways.

You WILL do well. Yes there is pain, but worth it when you realize you will have a working penis again. I had my implant this past Monday Jan. 19th. Recovery so far is doing well. No more real pain, just discomfort when attempting to sit or stand.. I have pain pills, only have taken two when I first came home. You driving yourself or you have someone with you ?

Thanks for the encouging words. Decided to go to my 6am admission appointment in my pajams. I suspect patients and visitors alike will think I'm a VIP until they put me in a hospital gown. The following song from My Fair Lady keeps playing in my head with these modified words:
I'm gettin' an implant in the morning
Ding-dong the bells are gonna chime
We'll have a whopper, pull out the stopper but
Get me to admissions on time
I've got to get there in the morning
Spruced up and lookin' in my prime
Pull out your compass, kick up a rompass
But get me to admissions on time.
Be sure to get me to admissions on time!

Glad to hear that. It made my day too. Laughter before surgery was great! Waiting for meds to stop bladder spasms, which was a gift that keeps on giving. Once I get that I'm going for a walk. Surgery went well!

So I begin to experience excruciatingly painful bladder spasms. A gift that keeps on giving since my Prostate surgery. These spasms started hitting me multiple times per minute causing me to cry out in pain. I search my bed for the call button only to discover I was never given one. Thankfully I have my cell phone. I call UCSF and ask to speak with the nursing station on my floor. I ask for a nurse to come to my room immediately. She gives me pain meds and an anti spasm medication but my nurse tells me my Surgeon's order is not on the chart. It turns out there is some lag time when imputing orders on computerized medical records. Makes me wish for the good old days when what a Doctor writes in the chart is in the chart...no lag time.
