Who really did your surgery?

Did you get the surgeon you hired to do your surgery or was it someone else in his/her practice? A student? I was asleep so I don't really know. There was another (younger) Dr that was part of the "team".

My surgery was at the U of MD Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Kramer was front and center, and since UMMC is a teaching hospital and Kramer is a Professor of Urology, the team included medical students. I was asleep for the procedure, so I don't know who did what, but Dr. Kramer was there when I went out and he came into the recovery room when I woke up. My result was perfect, so whoever did it got it right.

I probably had a similar situation when I had mine put in at Duke. My wife also added a couple of details from her perspective as a retired RN. I assume the following were in the Operating Room

* The Surgeon
* Surgical Nurse
* Anesthesiologist
* Nurse Anesthetist
* Another Nurse going after things
* The COLOPLAST representative with his big box of goodies (the surgeon told me about that one)
* Several medical students and/or residents

The only missing items were a keg of beer and a bonfire being fed with pallets :D
