Implant Revisions
Hi, My bionic brothers. I had a few questions that I can't seem to get enough information for. First off I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum that has had their implant for the duration , I mean the 10 to 15 years like the manufacturer claims they may last. And if you have had a revision does the doctor replace the whole implant and does the doctor put in a larger implant or the same size implant he took out. I can't seem to find enough information to understand how all of this works. Thanks for any info.
Re: Implant Revisions
I've had my implant for a year and a half. Before I had surgery I spent countless hours researching implants. There are many people that have had more than one revisions during their lifetime. Generally, the whole device is replaced. The cylinders stretch your penile tissue, and because of that an implant that is a bit longer is usually used.
Re: Implant Revisions
My first implant lasted about three and a half years and the second lasted fourteen years. All three have been the AMS Ultrex, although they changed the name on this third one and now call it the LGX.
I'm 75 and got an AMS Ultrex in 1995. Had it replaced in 1999. Got a new AMS 700 LGX in 2013.
