Penile Corpora
This is a question to those of you that have already had the IPP surgery. What is done with the corpora tissue when the implants are inserted? Is the tissue removed or left in place ?

Re: Penile Corpora
My understanding it that it is left in place and simply displaced by the cylinders. If anybody knows otherwise please set me straight.

Re: Penile Corpora
If remained, for those who could in some instances still get blood erdction, would they not have interference with the cylinders there? So, perhaps some of tissue is removed . Pre IPP, I could get blood erection, now blood to glans and the feeling of some flow in corpora, but no usable erection until inflated.

Re: Penile Corpora
I need a better answer than what is supplied here.
If the tissue is left in place, it would seem that this highly vascular tissue that fills with blood to produce an erection would be punctured during the surgery and turn into a bleeding life threatening event since there has got to be so much vascularity in those tissues.
How does the surgeon control the bleeding of these tissues if they are puncutured to make way for the tubes that are inserted?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks

Re: Penile Corpora
My Dr. said that the tissue is removed and therefore if implant is removed no chance of ever having a natural erection.
Don't your Dr.'s explain the procedure? If not I would want a differnt Dr.

Re: Penile Corpora
Blood is turned on when the penis gets erect and subsides when not. The tissue inside the corpora is not cut out but a hole is made in the side of the corpora tube on each side and the tissue inside that is like a honeycomb is either blunt dissected and or dilated to create a space to run the implant cylinders up. The outside of the corpora except for the one hole are intact so no leaking. Surgeon is working on an intact tube through one hole. After a space is made the cylinders are placed and the skin is then tightly sealed around the tubes tubes connected to the cylinders to prevent leakage and then more layers of tissue are closed over that seal on the way out for further water (blood) tight of a seal. The videos that Dr Kramer narrates were helpful on you tube. There is likely scarring from the reaction to the cylinders so natural blood flow and any natural erections unlikely after a period of time though there are exceptions. Again the videos are pretty reassuring if not pretty "cross your legs" graphic.

UPDATE: I contacted my Dr's office about this question yesterday, they confirm the the Corpora tissue is left in place, not removed.

Re: Penile Corpora
obviously it is left in place, why bother taking it out?
but the dialation process and the insertion of the implant pretty much destroys most of it
some residiual tissue might provide a little engorgement post op but if u remove the implant u wont be able to have an erection
