This is for YOU! Just want to thank you all. Been reading for almost a year now and got implanted yesterday morning by Dr. Andrew Kramer in Baltimore ($679 flights for 2, $850 three nights hotel but I'm leaving a night early). Not going too deep into history. 42 years old. And as far as my path here, Same as most of you. Ultrasound/Doppler whatever confirmed venous leaks about 4 years ago. 2 years of pills just fine. Stopped working and used all of the big 4 orals on and off for the next year, then injections. They worked sometimes, other times they didn't. Then pills with injections (which you are NOT supposed to do) but after wildly inconsistent results, here we are.

I work in hospitals and with patients daily in pre-op and recovery in the Midwest, so I had to get out of town and don't want to advertise my issue. Decided to go with Dr. Kramer in Baltimore. So far I am 28 hours out and I am cutting my hotel stay short and flying back tonight to get in my own bed. In the uber now typing on the way. I have been and will be watching TV on my back 23 hours a day and staying off my feet for the first 6 days.

It Feels weird touching it. Can't wait to see how it feels at 100%. At 15% now and he told me not to max out for 4 weeks. Told me I would be "ready for prime time" in 8 weeks. ZERO issues with pain thus far. I do get up slowly because that isn't easy. Foley (taken out by my girlfriend who is a nurse) was hands down the worst part. You can't move with it in. I still went to the hotel 2 hours after implant was finished. Taking pills every four hours but tomorrow I will switch to Tylenol Motrin. At no point have I felt I needed them, just want to stay ahead of it.

Implanted with AMS 700CX Kramer picked it. 7" clean pre-procedure. He said he used 21cm cylinders with 2cm extenders which doesn't mean anything to me at the moment. Don't care if I lose anything if it works. BlueCrossBlue Shield PPO. No clue what the bill will be but I don't care. And that's a wrap!

Can't say enough about Dr. Kramer & his team. If you are reading this and are on the fence, and have the financial means, he is your guy. Go with the closest thing to a lock if you make such a big decision. I live in a MAJOR city too. It was him or Eid for me and NYC is a pain in the ass. Unless I'm going there to party, I want nothing to do with it.

I wish all of u the best. Hope this thing works! Either way, thanks for giving me the confidence to do it. You've made me laugh while feeling your pain at the same time. The emotional struggle the past year plus realizing I was failing, I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, thank God every other facet in my life was good, including getting my significant other just when I realized I was in trouble and her being supportive. But I'm a problem solver. If there's a solution, I pounce. Just like when LASIK came out instead of wearing contacts. Scared the heck out of me then and totally paid off and that was 16 years ago. Don't see why this can't be the same.

Wish me luck guys as I will with all of you. Keep the stories & tips coming. So many read and don't post, you don't realize it. & we don't talk about this with our buddies. You make a difference, you truly do. Ok, almost at the airport. I'm out

Glad it went well. You do not say what Midwest big city you are from but if it was St. Louis then a good thing you bugged out of town. I wasted almost 3 years and countless 4 hour round trips to get nowhere with those urologists. Some of the best docs in the world and the worst urologists I have ever met. Out of pocket costs look much less than what I was quoted with Eid and a 4 day shorter stay. Eid would have been my choice had it not been for the out of pocket cost above what I could afford. He made the effort to email pictures how he would put in a 3 piece implant after 5 lower abdominal surgeries and scored a lot of points with me for that. 57 years in a very rural area, New York was a scary thought to me. Made me wonder if sore and maybe pilled up if I and my 65 year old wife and I could navigate the place. :) d

I'm glad everything is going great for you so far and I'm sure that everything will continue to go as it should. For those of us that are essentially waiting for the time to get it done, for whatever reason(s), and for those that are on the fence about getting it done, these posts are really reassuring.

Thanks

Thanks for the post chiali09, I am scheduled for July 9th and very nervous. I hope you continue to post updates on your healing progress. If it's not too weird to ask would you post a pic of the results? A picture is worth a thousand words.

Well a pic won't happen as I'm afraid to look! too funny. But really I'm only interested in 4 weeks from now, shortly after u get on the table July 9 (good luck)!

Back at home in bed. Not even at 48 hr mar yet. Probably won't give another update for about 6 days as I will be doing absolutely nothing u to that point. I'm envious of those of u who are within driving distance. The whole airport experience wasn't fun. I did get pre-boarding status because of the surgery, so I sat in row two. But of course when we landed we were at the farthest gate from ground transportation. That walk was rough. Can't explain it. Didn't hurt, but felt "tight" while walking. Like I was holding a baseball in between my legs. & I walked slowly (and I'm a fast walker because I can't wait to get to my final destination anytime I fly). So almost the entire plane passed me when it was all said and done. I jog daily and i believe Dr Kramer when he says I won't be doing that for about a month.

Today will be my first day switching to Motrin and Tylenol. Got about 40 some odd Oxywhatevers left that hopefully I will never need. Does feel a little swollen and that walk probably didn't help. But my pain is still zero.

I got the keychain pump to practice. Can't see how I'm gonna do it when I get to that stage. Great start but that's exactly what it is. Step one in a long process. If u fly i would stay two nights post op (like I had originally booked). Although there is no telling if walking would be better today vs yesterday anyway so it's a moot point. And I'm thrilled to be home.

Chiali - thanks for your posts - I am scheduled with Dr. Kramer in late August and your comments about him have put me even more at ease - although I have already been impressed by him - even answering my e-mails before I was his patient. I live about 2 hours from his office so I plan to go up the night before and head home after surgery - not driving of course. Please keep us up-to-date on your AMS (assuming it's the LGX) - that's what I'm getting. Best of luck in your healing - hope it continues to go as well and painlessly as it has so far.

I just discovered today on my ID Card it says I got the CX. Before the case we had talked about the LGX. My guess is he had to change it because of fibrosis (probably those damn injections on the right side). I hope that doesn't mean I can't get any longer. Not cycling for another 5 weeks so we shall see. I did all this to relieve stress. Now I have to be patient and see what I really have in 5 weeks. This is quite the process!

I'm going to email him later. Maybe when I get it replaced in ten years I can upgrade to the next best thing.

I got xiaflex injections last year to "dissolve" some of my fibrosis from bottleneck peyronies (caused by radiation treatments many years ago). I've also been using trimix for the last few years but only very occasionally so hopefully there won't be much fibrosis for Dr. K. to deal with once he gets in there. I DEFINITELY want the LGX! Can't feel but so sorry for you if you were 7" pre-surgery and didn't get the LGX ;) but sure understand not wanting to lose anything - if I do I'll be an inny. Continued best as you heal and let me/us know what Dr. K. says. I assume you didn't see him or talk to him after surgery?

My sense is you did great with the CX, I did research prior and it's harder, drastically more rigid, better if your "unit" is of good size. If your surgeon sizes you right, then if you got the CX you've much a much harder erection to work with. Don't long for the LGX, promising length by getting a stretchy implant doesn't make sense. Get yourself sized aggressively (by one of the high volume guys) then go for rigidity. That's my 2 cents
