Here I go...

Postby senatephoto » Fri Jun 19, 2015 9:43 am

Greetings to all. First of all, let me say that this forum has been a huge help to me, in my consideration of having an implant. I'm 5 years out of prostatectomy, followed by radiation for some salvage, then Lupron therapy. While I'm not 100 percent impotent, I haven't been able to penetrate since my surgery. I'm thinking that I'm stuck where I am, so I have an appointment with Dr. Kramer in a couple of weeks for consultation, then perhaps surgery later in July. I'm apprehensive for i guess the same reasons all here have been. Not so much worried about size, but am I doing the right thing? I do have some reaction down there, its just not sufficient i guess. Watching the videos is both encouraging and scary at the same time. Prior to my RP, I was 100 percent fine, and I guess I feel I've been cheated somewhat because of the cancer. Sorry to vent so much, but you know, surgery in that area gets a little frightening! Anyway, I'll keep posting after my consult, and again, thanks to all who have posted here. It really is a big help.

You're making the right decision. You'll be in the best hands with Dr. Kramer - he's a gifted surgeon and a genuinely caring doc. I'm still in touch with him 7 years after my surgery - he keeps himself available and responds quickly to emails and phone calls.

Always has to be your decision but I am so glad I did it and glad that I picked Dr Kramer. 7 weeks out last Wednesday. Works great. I even forget I have it at times now unless of course I want an erection and no question I can get annnnd keep one. I think Dr Kramer is the best choice I have made in a long time despite his distance from me. I wish I hadn't waited but then I wouldnt have appreciated it so much I guess. Good luck.

Had my consult with Dr. Kramer today, and planned a July 29th procedure (fourth of the day). He was great and answered all of my questions, and most likely will use the ams 700 cx implant. Very nice guy, puts you at ease immediately. I have some pre-op stuff to do, then if I don't chicken out, its go time! Looking forward to it all with excitement and trepidation at the same time. I hope to have some latent erection action, and he said that he doesn't touch the glans at all, so that should be ok. Thanks again to all the posters here for the info and encouragement. I'll keep posting as the date nears...

My procedure is tomorrow with Dr. Kramer, and I've been moved up to the first one of the day (he usually does 4 on Wednesdays). Naturally nervous, but not worried..nervous excitement I guess.
I'll post afterwards. Thanks to this forum and the guys for support and information!

All the best wishes possible to you buddy! Had mine exactly 4 weeks ago. You will be sore for afew days but it gets better every day after that. You made the right decision to go with a doc like Kramer. Youre in good hands.
Good luck.
