Hello,


I am considering an implant in the near future. However, I would like it to be done by the top of the top; I researched a lot and Dr Eid in NYC came up.

So I have questions for those of you who used his services:

1- How hard are your erections with the implant? Would you say 100% hard or a little less? I've read some members say that an erection with an implant is like having a semi erection, and others say that implant erections are even harder than natural erections... which one is it with Dr Eid?

2 - When did you have to replace your implant? 8 or 10 years or more? Is there a risk of infection when replacing the implant?

3 - If an infection occurs during the first time doing surgery, then what happens? Can you reschedule another appointment for another surgery?

I probably wouldn't go the Canadian route because i doubt a Canadian urologist would recommend me to have it done. Unless you're condition is super deteriorated I'm sure you can tell where I'm coming frkm in this respect - it's
it's tough to get any treatment for ED outside viagra and cialis in Canada for ED, period, I find.

Doc wise in the US I've done extensive research and the other one beside Eid I would consider Dr Kramer - Eid seems good but charges for his phone consultations and took part in interviews with Perito, who has legal troubes/history. Just my thought/2 cents

I'm a dr. Eid patient, only 2 weeks post op. The hardness of the erection depends on how much you pump it. If I pump it close to max, the erection is extremely stiff, maybe even harder than a natural erection. You can pump it less so that it is not as stiff. The erection is greatly enhanced when aroused, it's basically a combined effect from the implant and what's left of your natural erection working together.

I do not know who said that it's like semi-erection. I've been actively reading this forum these past few months, and the general consensus is that the erection with an implant is very stiff, harder than a natural erection when pumped to the max, thus I'm surprised about the semi-erection you read about. Maybe that one person was an exception, or his implant wasn't done right.

It depends, from what I read here people are saying they last 3 to 10 years. I think Dr. Eid said that they should last 10 years. There is always a risk of infection with an implant, but when done correctly the risk is minimal
. Dr. Eid has his own technique that he created, which according to him nearly eliminates infections. It is called the "No Touch Technique", more info about it here:

Dr. Eid believes that preventing direct contact with the source of bacteria is the most effective way of eliminating infections. Therefore, a novel technique for prosthesis insertion entitled the No-Touch Technique (NTT) was invented and pioneered by Dr. Eid in 2005 that allows the surgeon to completely insert a penile prosthesis in a patient without touching the skin to reduce the incidence of peri-prosthtetic infection. The technique was developed on the belief that eliminating any contact between the prosthesis and the skin, either directly or indirectly via surgical instruments or gloves, should reduce the incidence of contamination of the device with skin flora responsible for infection.

I think you need to have another surgery done. What they do is take out the implant, wait for the infection to clear, then re-implant you a few weeks later. Don't take my word for it tho, there is limited info on infections here, I believe I've only seen a few cases on this forum.

I've reported my horror story about infection and removal in another thread, but my understanding re:

... is that, after removal, the minimum before they can try again is six months.

He informed me that infections are generally the most serious complications that can occur, and that he has one of the lowest, if not the lowest infection rates in the IPP industry due to his own no-touch technique.
Due to this and what I was able to read about him, I was not concerned about infections at all, and didn't ask him any additional questions regarding this. In our pre-op interview I focused on questions I had such as the post-op size, how the implant works etc...

It's generally accepted that Kramer and Eid have the lowest infection rates today. I agree with Eid that the skin has got to be the source. When Kramer did mine he told me his infection rate was 1:500, and told me infections are treated with a salvage (that god forbid didn't happen) but if it did, that part actually would be covered since it's an "infection" not an erection treatment. It put my mind at east, fortunately I didn't get an infection w/ Kramer and feel great about that. Eid is top notch too I hear. Perito outstanding too. Others may be a notch below in terms of volume.

What do you mean "treated with a salvage"? So if it happens, can he try again later?

Cool! Thanks for the info. So there will be a risk of infection when replacing the implant 10 years later after all, I guess?

I thought that by living with an implant for so long in your body, having it replaced meant no infection risk since the body is already used to it.
