I got a PM inquiring if I was using a vacuum pump with my IPP because I am using the VED Protocol Therapy Post-Op. The following is my reply to the PM.....
The VED Protocol Therapy pre-op picks up after you are inflated. This is NOT using a vacuum pump on your IPP. Rather it is the recycling daily as outlined in the paper by Dr. Dineen. The paper said max inflation daily for an hour for three months. Dr. Cornell instructed me to cycle at least three time daily.
Dr. Dineen says he starts his patients at 9 to 12 days after the op. However other papers found most patients were not comfortable (read painful
) inflated that soon. One paper said the average person started the VED Protocol Therapy was 43 days. Dr. Cornell activated me at 33 days, was able to pump to the max two days later and have been going for a total of 60 minutes every since. This means I may do 30 in the morning and 30 at night, do to time constraints. Friday it will be nine weeks since my IPP op and somewhere around week 7 to 8 weeks it becomes less painful to pump to the max, i.e. the pump is flat. Since you are breaking the scar tissue you will have some discomfort for brief periods of time. You can always push the deflate button if it is to painful.
Last night I was tired, inflated to my IPP to max, I needed 15 to make my 60 minutes and set a timer. I went to sleep, timer went off and I push the button to deflate, i.e. the discomfort is not so bad I cannot sleep. It has not always been that way, in the beginning. When it got painful I would do Kegels.
It your read Dr. Dineen's paper he says the benefit is reached at three months, but from what I have heard here on FT it is more like 18 to 24 months for max growth.
So once again, I want to be clear, the VED Protocol Therapy is not using a vacuum pump on your IPP.
