45 minutes parked on I24 due to a dumb ass who rear-ended another. How do you run into the person ahead when everyone is running 85 mph?

Directions to the urologic surgery center were wrong. Spent 1 1/2 hours trying to find the damn place. Nashville is one messed up town. N, E, S, W do not mean anything here. Don't in Kansas City either but WORSE here.

Asked at the Marriot if they had an exception to the no pets rule. She tells me only if it is a service pet. I told the gal I have been servicing my wife for 32 years. They let me in. No Valet.

Dr. Milam was very nice. Will put in the AMS700LGX w/o any issue except he said the risk of infection is very high with HIV. Probably 20 times higher than the 1.5% average rate. If I get an infection it has to come out, but he said he won't give up on me.

Issues I have with it: He will only put in implant from the top side of dick, not scrotal. Due to that the tubes are visible through the skin and palpable from what everyone here has told me. Also issues of kinks in tubes to you have to readjust to get it to work if a tube kinks but I am sure he has good reason, probably due to higher reservoir placement.

Issue 2. He says I have a well above average size dick but the years of not having an erection have caused a lot of damage and I will have about 5 " to 5 1/2" when done. Will lose from 7 1/4"" length pumped length now. Says forget about the dick I had or what it will pump up to now. Like a smaller hard dick or do not get an implant.

Issue 3. He says he will put in an LGX implant that can grow 20% when pumped up but due to the fibrosis in my dick from lack of erections, it will not grow any more than he puts in. Forget the 20%, it will not happen.

issue 4. Will not use surgical gel adhesive to seal the internal cuts like Dr. Eid does. Says he can sew a tighter seal than glue.

Lastly, his scheduling nurse was not in the office. Said it would be later in the week before she will be and she would have to call to let me know if I can get it done this year. He say he gets edgy about getting a surgery scheduled by the end of the year at a date this late in the year. No guarantee. If it does not happen this time I guess I give up. He is the 17th doctor I've tried to get this done with and the only one who had no issue doing the job so far. No more on again off again roller coaster if it does not happen.

After the long wait in traffic, trouble finding the place, 21st street is called HWY 151 instead of 21st street if anyone is coming in from NW Tn and called 21st street/HWY 151 with many signs if you are coming from Memphis, I almost said forget it. 440 is marked with only 1 small sign if coming from the NW and if a truck is in the way you will never catch it no matter how many times you drive back and forth. I was ready Chaulk it up as one more attempt to get an implant that was not going to happen. Thought I would give one more try. Asked a guy gassing his BMW convertible for directions. He gave excellent directions. Told me the one hwy does not go all the way through and we made it only 15 minutes late. Wait time in the office was less than 10 minutes. Last patient of the day.

Right now I figure it is a good maybe it will happen depending if there is time in the schedule to get it done before the end of the year. If they can schedule, I am going for whatever i get. I do like Dr. Milam and at this early point I would have no issue recommending someone see him. There is no doubt I am a good study for his students presenting more than the average issues. He answered my questions and I think gave sincere answers why he wants to do things the way he does even if we disagree on part of it. d

Don't be discouraged by the size issue. He tends to under sell on size purposely so that you will be extra happy when you discover how big the final result turns out. BTW, GPS is worth the $ for Nashville. If you have a smartphone a GPS app will do the trick. IPhones map/GPS app works great. I used my Garmin and it took me straight to the destination. Great Doc., you won't find better.

I had 2 different GPS's. I cannot understand the voice. My wife and I call the Garmin I have now the bitch in the box. We chucked it the last trip to Chicago because it had us going in circles which turned out to be wrong directions. we also tried it on our address and it kept sending us 4 miles away in another direction. I need to make the 4 hour drive to costco and get another. Still no return call to schedule. Left a message. Rather down about this. by 2:30 I went totown to take care of matters as I knew they close by 4:30. One cannot wait by the phone forever. I hope it is not like the other docs that managed to one way or another see they did not have to deal with my issues but I am to the point I cannot get excited until I am in the operating room. This implant has not happened so many times it seems inevitable that it never will just because it has not happened so many times before. At one point I was in an operating room and all the supplies were unpackaged and then the doc changed his mind to not do it. 2012. d

The particular GPS/Model does make a big difference. My wife's does the runaround thing. It's caused by poor signal and small/cheap antenna losing connection. It causes the GPS to guess (which doesn't work). Voices can be downloaded and changed. I update maps every month on mine. It works perfectly in Nashville and never does the runaround game. I guess I got lucky.

I've never heard of Dr. Milam backing out of a commitment.

I am not aware of him backing out but would not surprise me since so many docs have or made some excuse to get out of it, founded, true or not, I just need a date and have not been able to get one yet which seems odd from what I expected. 4 days waiting on a call, I'm not sitting by the phone next week too. Thanks for the info on the GPS. Plan on getting one at Costco and not from Amazon like the last two that were not so great 50% of the time. I had to wait several weeks for a date. My surgery took place several months after the initial (also final) consult. Make sure you have voicemail, and call them often until you get an answer.

On the GPS size DOES matter. Bigger screened units generally have more antenna wire which keeps connections better. Be sure to get 5" screen or better with lifetime map updates. Also, Garmin is better on the highway and rural areas, Tom-Tom is generally better in the city but more complicated to use (generally speaking).

Update. Finally got through to Dr. Milam's scheduling secretary. She says there are no notes in my file to schedule a surgery nor what kind of surgery she might have been to schedule if there had been notes. Dr. Milam is not in this week so he cannot be asked about it. Maybe by week 3 I can make some progress here; if not what is another wasted trip to a doctor when he is the 17th one? I am going to have to have a healed, working penis before I can get excited about the possibility of this happening any more. Too many let downs. Going to have to find something to do before this gets to me again. d

Well that's a strange turn of events. On my initial visit, I thought I was all set and we were in agreement and then he commented "let me know what you decide" and turned to walk out. In puzzlement, I stopped him and said woah there, nothing to decide. I decided a long time before I got here, let's set this up right now. He called for the scheduling nurse and after a few minutes she gave me a surgery date (months out). I think is some kind of a mix up with the scheduling nurse.

From the flow of your conversation with the doctor, it sounds as if he clearly decided to do the operation. I would continue to persistently call them and explain the issue until someone in the support staff gets it straight. He doesn't make the decision of when, his team does that and you have to be a squeaky wheel. I had some snags just getting to see him myself, and it took some effort to make it happen. It was worth the effort, so don't give up.

we have wasted another 2 weeks getting today's bombshell after months waiting on an appointment. At this point I do not know if there is enough year left with holidays and such to get it done before insurance rollover again. The first part of August they said plenty of time time get it done. Same old scenario shaping up as past years, just a different story to not get there. I do not know what kind of project I am going to do but I am going to have to find a project to get my mind off this till next week when I can try to get answers when the doc is back. After last years near suicidal letdown with that horrid Dr. Bullock I ripped out the downstairs kitchen and spent 12 hours a day rebuilding it for 3 months. Good therapy but hard work. Maybe go out on the farm and dig a big hole, fill it back in or doze out some trees for 5 days till the nerves are settled better and someone is back in the office at Vanderbilt. Persistence, travel and referrals have not gotten anywhere so far in 4 years. Once again too late in the year to try Eid and get it done before the end of the year. 12 days ago had oral surgery, cracked tooth sawed out of the bone, yesterday had a melanoma cut out, 4" inscision and 15 stitches, just can't get dick work done no matter how hard I try.Last Monday they said the issue was whether I had had a cardiac stress test which I did a month ago and the cardiologist sent them a copy the day after the test ( before the Milam visit) plus a complete very comprehensive set of labs work which the doc went over with me that I had 10 days before the Vanderbuilt visit. d

Today my nerves are about shot. 17 days trying to get an answer, 2 phone calls to Phyllis at Dr. Millam's office 21srt and today and many messages she tells me she finally knows what kind of surgery he wants to do but now she has to send a note to Andrea to send a letter to my insurance company and get an approval letter from them before a surgery can be scheduled. I asked if there is any possibility of getting this done before the end of the the year and I am told she is not sure. She cannot say that it is possible.
Aug 3rd I call for an appointment and told Dr Milam does not do implants, Aug, 10 I call and told he nolonger does surgery. Aug 12th I am told after I find out he still does surgery that Vanderbilt does not accept United Healthcare. I Call the Vanderbilt bookkeeping dept and they tell me Vanderbilt does accept it and Dr. Milam is a provider so I call back and finally get a nice young man who says absolutely we can get it done by Dec, maybe in Nov. Earliest appointment date is Oct 12th. Travel to Nasheville, see doc, discuss it and he says he ill have Phyllis call to schedule it but he is "twitchy" if he can get it done by the end of the year once the calendar rolls into October. Several calls and messages left for Phyllis. Talk to her on the 21st. She says there are no notes in my file that Dr. Milam wants to do surgery nor what kind of surgery he might want to do. Several more calls and messages, I get her to today. They will send a letter to my insurance company likely tomorrow. I told her we are going to St. Louis Monday to schedule surgery for my wife and need to make sure we will not have conflicting dates so I really need to have the answer I have been looking for for months. I'd put the chance I'm getting an implant about 4% now. Dr. Milam is the 17th doctor in 4 years. I told her if there is a reason they do not want to do it, tell me. This has messed around so long now there is no chance of getting in to someone else this year. At this point I say screw it. What is the use of trying? I had a cardiac stress test, oral surgery, lab work and everything possible to make sure there would be no issues to prevent this from happening. Dirt work with the crawler did not settle my frustrations last week, A track came off the machine 1 1/2 minutes into it. Today I'm going to cut firewood.. Maybe beating wood to death with a maul will help. d
