Dr. Milam and Vanderbilt University are requiring a predetermination of coverage before scheduling an implant or an irrevocable guarantee of payment up to $72,000 dependent on the level of surgery. Received a letter from United Healthcare today stating they do not provide predetermination of benefits in the state of Missouri so they will not be providing one to Vanderbilt. If a claim is received after surgery, they will then review the information to determine if the payment of benefits is warranted. Impasse. AMS patient assistance programs are also considered to be an illegal form of kickbacks in Missouri. If this republican super majority we have continues on the same path I would assume the next step is making it illegal to live if you get sick. d
