Am on my third implant due to infections, pain etc. My latest implant with AMX inflatable was on 4/15 and I have no sign of infection but still have discomfort in the tip and side of the penis. Pain my be from scar tissue after three surgeries but I am hoping more time will resolve this??? To compound things right now I have ongoing issues with "dribble" and constant feel of needing to urinate, undoubtedly from swollen prostate but also could be the tubes pinching the urethra at the tip.

My doctor is recommending a TURP procedure to open the prostate. I am concerned about this because of potential issues with the implant.

Has anyone out there had this TURP procedure done after having an implant put in? If so, did you have any issues afterward?

Turp should not be an issue with the implant. Prostate is beyond it, but I would be leery of the TURP as it will likely cause more leakage. Everyone I know who had TURP and no leakage problems before now leak. Turp is usually used when you can't pee. If swelling in the prostate is putting a strain on the urinary sphinctor it might help you though. There are pills that shrink the prostate too but I have no experience with them. Best of luck this works out. I assume he has ruled out residual infection irritation in the prostate? d

I had it in the reverse order: TURP when 40, implant when 61.

I wouldn't expect any interaction between the TURP and the implant because they are working with different "channels."

The doc doing the TURP said the pain would be "really not that bad" and it wasn't. Certainly way less than an implant.
Doing a TURP requires a skilled operator so make sure your doc has good experience. Especially important for those without ED because you want a doc who will be nerve sparing and not cut something by mistake.

The prostate surrounds the urethra ... it's a tube through a walnut size gland. Basically the tool has optics, water flush, and an electric cutter. It's inserted in your urethra and when the doc determines he's at the right spot the electric loop is deployed and it cores out the prostate like an apple corer. Sounds painful, but like I said I think an implant is way worse pain wise.

A catheter is inserted and left in a few days so clots form a new tube around the now missing part of the urethra. It's fragile so you can't do much of anything.

Re dribbling, there's 2 sphincters and one gets wiped out but I didn't dribble (post void only) until a few years ago but that was because I started having bladder spasms probably connected with another medical problem I have. It stopped by taking Vesicare.

You will bleed while peeing at first which can be fun freaking people out. I was at a public restroom urinal and the guy waiting walked up as soon as I flushed. "JESUS CHRIST" he exclaimed in horror at all the blood in the bubbling water.
