Congrats!
Get started with your preparations.
Healthy food, plenty of sleep, skip all the aspirin etc...

I am crossing a couple of fingers already.

Actually had been prepping early for another procedure in St. louis Monday which thankfully will cover my deductible for the 13th. I filled out a lab requisition form and got lab work so they will have a pre-pre-op lab set to compare. also have an appointment Wednesday with internist for final o.k. Friends already warned me to be a hermit and do not get out in public and catch anything, as if I'm not a hermit anyway. wife suddenly in a better mood tonight after I told her I booked several nights in a motel for her with full concierge service so she does not have to drive anywhere. Dr's Milam's nurse called to answer questions. first I've talked to her. She said he does not use the conceal reservoir though. She says he uses the "big round ball" kind. AMS rep will attend the surgery. I am a thin guy and do not think the "ball" is a good choice, especially when the AMS manual recommends the conceal with the LGX ( she says oredered all the way back in Oct) but must rely on doctor's skill. Thanks for the well wishes. I was really down when they called and cancelled this morning, then still down when they set a new date an additional month out. This happened too many times before. It is sad I get an early day now because someone had to cancel. I can only imagine his disappointment. Cheers all. d

I agree on the 'don't catch anything'.
I slept like crap for a few weeks prior to surgery. Too many thoughts. On top of that I had to travel from SE Asia to Europe for business a week before surgery, and then from Europe to USA for the surgery. Lack of sleep, jetlag and air travel is a good recipe for catching a cold.
But I managed to stay well.
Just one little detail: I normally take fish oil (Omega 3 capsules) daily in larger doses than recommended.
I kept doing this right up to surgery since it was not mentioned in the protocol among substances to avoid.
Turns out this has a blood thinning effect.
Might be one reason why I was bleeding so much during surgery. Eid says vitamin E has a blood thinning effect.

So if you do take fish oil or any other supplement with very high doses of vitamin E, stop it now!

I don't take fish oil and had already had stopped the E in prep for a colonoscopy Monday. Yes, E does thin blood. Urologist prescribed it to me for ED years ago. Thanks for the wishes and suggestions. I've had many surgeries and accustomed to the protocol but others here need to know as well since most docs are not good at advising. Milam only told me to not take aspirin or advil pre surgery. Glad you did well being tired. Being 15 years older and immune compromised i can assure you the easiest way for me to get sick is be tired, overstressed or, over worked. I am certain being a healthy young man has had a great impact on your fabulous outcome as well as a great doc. Be well and thank you. d
