Reservoir migration
Reservoir migration
I saw my doctor today for a 6 months checkup following implant. I mentioned that the reservoir was in a different place, and especially noticeable after resuming bicycle riding after several months of not riding. She agreed that it had moved and said that if it starts bothering me that she can move it. Has anyone else had their reservoir move around on its own?

Re: Reservoir migration
Mine is more forward and has turned from being sideways between my testicles with release button facing toward the right testicle to the button almost facing forward. The pump rotated about 75 degrees. No issues though I can notice a difference in the way my scrotum looks with pump.

Re: Reservoir migration
I had mine move from the rear behind my testicles to in front about the 1:00 position. This happened eight days after surgery. I didn't want it up in front, but I didn't know if it was okay to move it back on my own. By the time I got an answer from another doctor, it was too late to move it by hand. I'm not happy with the 1:00 location, although 12:00 might not have been any better. I can feel the pump and the tubes readily, and I assume a woman could the first time she touched my scrotum. I would think the 12:00 position would be more discrete.

Re: Reservoir migration
Strider,
Are you talking about the reservoir or the pump. I do not know where my reservoir is and asked the doctor. He said he put it behind the bone, still cannot find it but am not worried about it. Kind of out of sight out of mind.
As for as the pump, mine is hanging low on my left side. It looks like one of my balls is hanging low, in the mirror. BTW I am getting the Testosterone pellets and my testicles shrivelled up to almost olive size.
Good luck with your reservoir.
Ron

I admit I have no idea where the reservoir is. Like the previous member said, out of sight out of mind.

And I read wrong you asked about reservoir not pump sorry. How do you know about reservoir movement? Did you mean pump?

Re: Reservoir migration
Have anyone had to have their pump relocated? if so, how long did it take and was it painful. i cant get to the deflate button nor can the dr. so i am schedule for a revision of the pump
Re: Reservoir migration
If you mean the reservoir: I don't know if it has moved. I can't see or feel it. I know where it is supposed to be, since Eid pointed it out to me post op. I was surprised how low it sits. Below the waistband of boxer underwear.
If you mean the pump: No it hasn't moved. First weeks it loosened up a lot and could be moved. But it hasn't moved. It's always been behind my balls at same height as the balls. In the middle but angled slightly to the right.

Re: Reservoir migration
No, I'm talking about the reservoir, not the pump. I couldn't tell where it was the first 5 months. But now it's very apparent that it's moved to about an inch below my belt and about 3 inches right of the center of my body.
When I pump up the implant the bulge goes away, and when I deflate the implant the bulge reappears. And, like I said the doctor agreed that what I was feeling is the reservoir. I'm really surprised that it's not much deeper and sutured so it won't move around. That's why I was curious if anyone else has seen this.

Re: Reservoir migration
I had the scrotal procedure and my reservoir was placed by inserting it through an opening created by forcing it up through the top of the scrotum into the space just above my penis. Hence I cannot see or even feel/touch it and no incision except in the top of the scrotum. Totally out of sight out of mind.
However, I am having some difficulty with ease of access to the "bulb" pump and the release button. The pump ended up very high above the testicles. The doctor said he thought in time it would work its way "down" but that they could change it's location easily with a short surgical procedure "if I wanted." He was quick to add "though it really isn't necessary".
With time I've gotten better at finding and using the pump as he suggested I would. Still, the take away here is if you're not happy with where the pump is located, they'll be able quickly and simply to relocate the pump although you will have go be put under for this small procedure. I'm waiting a while needless to say.
