Post Operative Cycling AMS 700CX...

Postby SPRAYED1 » Tue Mar 08, 2016 12:58 pm

Just a question out of curiosity. Is post operative cycling of an AMS 700CX necessary and for that matter a Coloplast Titan seeing as the cylinder length is fixed? Is cycling only necessary with the AMS 700LGX due to the expansion feature and the ability to possibly add some post operative length?

Cycling is more necessary for enlarging the tubes inside the penis to allow the tubes to fill to its maximum size. Conversely, you want the reservoir to fill up to its maximum so that the cavity in which the reservoir is placed doesn't heal smaller than required for full expansion.In either case, you don't want scarring to occur where either component cannot operate at full capacity. If the reservoir cannot fill up to maximum, the penis will not be able to become as flaccid as the prosthesis is designed. And the tubes need to be as full as possible to obtain the maximum erection.

Also, I found that cycling also made the implant softer and easier to operate each time I used it. 40 grand or not, these things have their quirks and it does take practice to get it to work perfectly.

I would say that post operative cycling of an AMS 700CX is necessary for at least some initial time after surgery. You will see a varying advice posted here with respect to how often one should cycle. But, based on my experience, not cycling at all would have a negative impact on your outcome. I had both impotence and incontinence as the result of a radical prostatectomy. Dr. Kramer and I discussed the situation and he recommended staging an implant first followed by a male sling two months later assuming that my recovery from the implant was progressing well. I had a speedy recovery from the implant surgery. In fact, I was able to ride my bicycle less than six weeks after surgery with no ill effect. I had the sling surgery exactly eight weeks after the implant surgery. I was completely deflated for the sling surgery and was not able to inflate my implant for the first six days after the sling surgery because my scrotum was swollen and painful. When I did resume inflating, the first two days were very painful, one of the tubes was a bit crooked and my erect length had shrunk from 6.25 inches to 6.00 inches. After another two days, I was back where I was just before the sling surgery and now, eight weeks after the sling surgery, my erect length is about 6.50 inches and I have better girth.

Most days I cycle twice per day. Sometimes if I am in a rush in the morning or if I am very tired at night, I will skip one of the cycles. But, since I started cycling again after the sling surgery, I have not gone for more than 24 hours without cycling. If you ever have had or been around anyone who has had a piercing, I think that the same situation applies to an implant. Once your body has gotten used to the foreign object, you don't have to worry about doing anything with it. But, until then, if you do not cycle (or in the case of a piercing keep it in), your body will react against it.

I was implanted with a AMS 700 CX the end of October 2015 and was told by Dr. Cornell, Houston TX. to cycle 2 X daily and over the next year that I could expect to gain up to 1" in length plus some girth. For 2 1/2 months I cycled 3X daily to the max (until it was uncomfortable) for at least 20 in each time. I have gained most of what he predicted, I am still pumping 2X daily, at night and usually about 4:00 - 5:00 AM I will pump it up and doze for a while. I usually get 1 1/2 - 2 hrs daily. The number of squeezes has increased from +/-12 in the beginning to about 21 now reach max.

I have an AMS CX and had a Titan. In both cases regular cycling significantly expanded my length from what it was immediately following the surgery.

@KMeister,
That's really good news to hear and I'm wondering what frequency and duration you cycled to obtain those results? I'm just 4 weeks out and have just began cycling.y surgeon wasn't too specific only to state to inflate/deflate once daily. I'm obviously committed to doing more to obtain the maximum results...:)

My routine (still to this day) is to pump up in the morning before my daily grooming (shower, shave, teeth brushing, etc) which takes about 35 minutes. I also pump up again before I sit down at the computer before bed to read the news, check e-mails, engage in social media exchanges, etc. I remain pumped up as I do my nightly prep (brushing teeth, posing in front of the mirror admiring my erection, etc.) I'm pumped up at night usually 30 minutes to an hour. I deflate right before going to bed unless my wife and I decided to make love. If so, I deflate right before going to sleep.

It took between six months and a year before I got my full length back.

When Dr. Kramer implanted my Titan in 2008 I don't recall being given any advice at all regarding cycling, and I never had an "activation" appointment. Mine was all "do-it-yourself", but I never had any problems.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.
