Does anyone know of a Great Dr. that performs surgery in a surgical center to lower my cost?!?! My "in network hospital says I would be responsible for 30% of supplies (implant) quoted me 26k for device alone. Have BCBC ONLY I am aware BCBC has an allowed amount contract with hospital that they can be charged because it's "in network" but it's still steep thinking I can save if it's not done at hospital
Thx!!!

You are kinda stuck with where your doctor does his or her surgeries but the main thing is they are in network. That will save you money, plus even in a hospital your stay will be less than 24 hours. My surgery was scheduled for 2:PM and was discharged by 8:AM the next morning. Your are hung up on the $26,000 price of the implant, my BCBS plan allowance for the implant was just over $14,000 and my out of pocket for the implant was $1900. So don't let the $26,000 sticker price scare you from getting the treatment you need to live a happy and healthy life.

I have BCBS. Got my surgery done by Dr. Robert Kaplinsky of Uropartners in the Chicago area. Also did my RP and a kidney cyst removal. Excellent Surgeon and Urologist.
My out of pocket for the $27,000.00 implant and $13,000.00 surgery was 600 bucks. I would do a little more investigating before you lose heart.

See my comments on your other posts. Check the full list of in-network providers with BCBS. I can do this online, and I called them and a lady helped me with that. I was shocked to find out that while I live in Kentucky, the University of Maryland and Dr. Andrew C. Kramer were in network for me. He's a high volume surgeon so I chose that instead of a less experienced urologist locally.
