When would you have gotten an implant?

Postby Nocturne » Sat Nov 12, 2016 8:30 am

I read a lot of guys here claiming that the only thing they regret about their implants is not getting them sooner.

If you could go back and do it again, when would you have gotten yours? At what point would you have taken the plunge?

I do not need an implant, as I am managing with only a small dose of Cialis for now (2.5 mg EOD). But I have a lot of atherosclerotic damage for a man my age and few illusions about what the future holds; also, my heart condition means that I am unlikely to live a long life (prolly check out right around retirement age, or shortly after, though I could be a lucky duck). Don't want to die with dodgy erections because I waited too long to get an implant.
Genetically sky-high Lp(a) of 390 led to various heart diseases. Ultra-low testosterone of 120 (now 480 with Clomid) also contributed to ED at age 41. Managing with daily Cialis, but for me, the implant is a "when", not an "if".

I'd have gotten mine at least 5 years earlier.

ten years, at least.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

OK, why didn't you get it earlier?

What were the signs you would alert a guy to that it really is time?

When I did. :) I was very apprehensive and unsure before receiving the wisdom and counsel on Frank Talk. :( I had tried everything to get and keep an erection. I was ready then. 8-)

I delayed because of assuming insurance would not cover it (wrong), imagining the surgery and recovery would be much more difficult than they actually were, hoping the problem would solve itself (it didn't), imagining it would look unattractive (it doesn't), etc... I wish I could erase all the ralational problems that came with ED but I can't.

Jdavid, i was also surprised insurance covered it & that's what pushed me over the edge. Before i found out about insurance, I was thinking about having it done in Mexico.

I would have done it 8 to 10 years ago. The Viagra was hit or miss and my erection were too. Could still get one but wouldn't last long. Just tried to make due. Never really heard of an implant until last year. Never knew what it was. If I had and insurance would have covered it I would have done it then. A lot of things might have been different now.
