Joe,
You could start out at 10 min. at a time ... twice a day ... then increase from there ... as time allows.

Before you get started ... do a little manscaping (helps in getting a better seal). If you have any other questions just ask ... there are lots of pumpers here ...

Joe,
I was a patient of Dr. Martin Dineen in Daytona Beach, FL and he is a very strong advocate of the VED therapy prior to surgery. In fact, he and his assistant, Tom Sellers wrote the frequently mentioned paper on the advantages of this therapy prior to implant placement. I actually followed the routine for nine months (but only due to the fact that insurance problems kept delaying my surgery). The minimum recommended duration I believe is 8 weeks prior to surgery. I did not experience any loss of length, was able to be activated at 16 days and am very happy with the outcome and implant in general. Here's a link to the paper that is often mentioned:

I also pumped but didn't have the 16 weeks but did twice a day for 4 weeks. I have experienced a great recovery and almost back to 6" from the pubic bone to the tip. Enough to make her happy and me also.

My doc said you can do it but there is no good evidence that it does anything.
I started to do it based on FT but limited it after my final meeting with him.

Also I found that my foreskin ballooned a bit and stayed inflated after the surgery too.

Mark, your doc is an idiot, sorry for telling you the truth about him...

While I respect your opinions, it is not scientific.
Unless I'm mistaken, there is currently 1 study with a limited sample size so I can see his point of view. He questioned the quality of this study and that it had not been replicated.
All he said was that there was no GOOD evidence and if I wanted to I could delay surgery by 6 weeks to implement it. I chose not to.
I respect is opinion more which is all I need to justify my decisions.
I was also concerned that my foreskin was ballooning too much as well as a blood blister on the corona so I restricted VED usage in the last week.
Cycling wise, he also said there is some evidence that size can be increased too. He appears to be across everything AFAIK and publishes a lot..

YMMV
