I have been lurking here ever since my RALP in Oct, 09. I have learned a lot and want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences. After having an ultrasound, I found out that I have venous leak. It did not come as a surprise, but as the PA said, that leaves you with either the VED pump or an implant. The pump does work for me, but I hate it. It does not help intimacy to take a break to get old willie pump up and then have a limit on time. The rings also get uncomfortable. So sex has become very occasional. An implant does sound like a good solution. My concerns are those that have been discussed here. Size..will I be big enough to make sex work (friction), will I be able to avoid leaking urine during sex, will I have any long term discomfort..like having an extra ball in the scrotum, at age 71 is it worth it. The PA said the dr would probably use an AMS LGX.
The doctor that would be doing the surgery is Dr. Brandt at Metro Urology in Woodbury, MN...Does anyone have any experience with him.???He does at least 12 implants a month.
Do you think I could go snowmobiling 4 weeks after surgery? Just thinking about possible times for surgery.
Any other thoughts on this difficult decision would be appreciated.
PS Both Titan and AMS are here in the Twin Cities...the shipping costs will be low...

Hey Ricky,
You've asked some good questions and I'm sure that some of the "bionic boner" guys will be in touch before long. In the meantime, I want to suggest that you contact sspmattpb. Matt is from Minneapolis and had his implant done at Mayo clinic in nearby Rochester. He has had some very informative things to say in the past and I know he will have some good insights for you. I don't see him on the site as often as I did previously, so you might want to send hiim a Private Message. That comunication will pop up in his email server.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Implant maybe in my future.
Since I had two implants done at the same time, the IPP and AUS I worried about having two pumps and a lot of tubing in the scrotum. I was pleasantly surprised to find that to be comfortable, but it took a couple of months to really get used to all this new stuff. My was done 1/15/11 and I mostly am now unware of the pumps and tubing. The penis is a little different. It got comfortable in about a month but the shaft part is a little more sensitve to being bumped into. But this is very minor. It feels good when put to use! The errection quality has improved after the "break in" proceedure to where it is as stiff as it ever was and very hard to bend, I give that a ten. Size, I lost about 1/2 inch of lenght after it has "grown" during the six months. If you are worried about the size you might discuss going to the larger diameter cylinder set which my doc told me would offset the lenght being a little less, I didn't do that and didn't get the bigger cylinders. I have the lgx also and I am very happy with it .
I would say, go for it, but I faced this decision differently than you, I was scheduled for the AUS and adding the IPP meant I didn't have to decide surgery or not, just wheather to add the IPP. Good luck in your decision and if you are going to do it, sooner is better. I think.

Re: Implant maybe in my future.
Hi Ricky,
Since your planning on doing the surgery in MN, I strongly believe you should go down to Mayo in Rochester. Dr. Ajay Nehra is the implant pro down there and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. Nehra does 3-4 implants in some days!
Also I would plan for a 8-12 week recovering time. If you go to Nehra it would be at least 10, seeing he is more strict about recovery than most doctors I have heard about. PM me if you have any more questions!

Re: Implant maybe in my future.
I developed ED Post Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65.
Viagra, Cialis, etc. did not work for me.
I had the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure done in December 2007 at Hackensack University Medical Center by
Dr. Hossein Sadeghi and my wife and I are very happy with the results.
It restored both our sex life and the emotional intimacy between us.
I also had an Abdominal Wall Hernia repair done at the same time as my Titan Penile Implant.
Dr. Sadeghi and the Vascular Surgeon coordinated their schedules and performed both procedures under the same
anesthesia. I was back in the gym lifting weights in 7 weeks and there has been no limitation placed on any of my physical activities.
I hope this information is helpful to men considering the Penile Implant treatment option.
