United Healthcare

Postby Bigred » Tue Mar 28, 2017 9:46 pm

i'm trying to find out if my company policy covers the procedure. I can't seem to get a definate answer from the carrier. Anyone have expierence dealing with UHC and is there any chance a physician's office would call before my decision is made. I would like to use Kramer if I can get a consultation by phone or online.

Yes, I have United Healthcare. Dr. Kramer's office handled it for me. My policy covered my implant based upon my history of prostate cancer and a final failure of injections. It turned out that UHC has a number for the procedure and pre approval was not required. I don't have a bill for my part yet.

Hope you have similar results

UHC covered my implant in 2008, but as I understand it the coverage decision actually rests with your company - your individual coverage is determined by the contract between your company and UHC. That's how it worked at the last four companies I worked for before retiring.

United Healcare says my implant was covered. My policy does have a disclaimer for "any purpose to promote conception". That was a long hard battle to fight with them considering conception was no-longer possible post prostatectomy. If you have had a vasectomy or a history of other health issues that cause ED you should be able to get around that clause if you have it. Be persistent if you need be. AMS has a help line and they will conference call with you and UHC if need be. That is also very helpful. Proper coding is very important to get this covered. Several times including this last implant there were rejections due to improper codes used. It only took one day to state it was a covered code this time once the proper procedure and diagnosis codes were given. Still waiting on paperwork showing what they paid. Good luck sir.
LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.
