Pre OP and Shaving

I had a pre op exam and Cystoscopy done yesterday in Atlanta. Long drive there and back. Everything was great until he started to look closer. He told me no more shaving. I have been shaving for 15 years or more. He said that i have developed a bacteria around the hairs, red spots. I have noticed them from time to time and thought they were just a razor burn. He told me that he will not operate with it like that, way to easy for infection. Good thing my surgery is 11 days away. He has me on a antibiotic for it and told me to stop shaving. So to you guys out there that have yet to have a implant you may want to ask about it.

11 days and counting

Keeping a close trim is fine. Even using sizzors on long hairs. But don't take a chance on cutting yourself. They will prep you and prefer to. To reduce risk of infection. They shaved me a good three inches above my dick but it grows back and itches like (well you know).

I'm a veteran of 18 major surgeries on my abdomen. In fact I long ago acquired the look of a KyleXY being with the fact that I no longer have any visible trace of a belly button! (I'm hoping someone remember the tv show called KyleXY about a kid grown in a lab). AFter I saw early on how they shaved me completely from the crotch up to my breast bone I thought I'd take care of it myself once before a scheduled surgery. I almost got sent home for the same reason. They want to shave you because they do it in a way that lessens the possibility of infection. I routinely use an electric trimmer to manscape my chest and crotch though. Otherwise I'd look like a silverback gorilla! Can't wait to be shaved for implant surgery, come out of it partially inflated, and see how BIG I look!

About a week or two before I was scheduled to be implanted by Dr. Kramer, I emailed him and asked about various preparations for surgery, including shaving. He wrote back and emphatically stated that I should not shave because of the risk of infection. He said that he would do it on the day of surgery (which he or someone on his staff did).

The reality is that the body hair is there for a reason. It is one of the barriers that it has to protect the skin against pathogens.

Weirdly and pleasantly enough, almost all of the nurses were smoking hot. I have had surgeries at this same hospital with not great lookers every other time. When they wheeled me in to my recovery room I swear my nurse was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She was downgraded from the most beautiful woman in the world to absolutely smoking hot over time. I was surrounded by super personable, sweet, and pretty nurses. Laying there, I couldn't help but think "yeah, I made the right choice."

I have a question for guys that had an implant. I have been shaving my pubic area for a good while now. I went for my pre-implant consult and my surgeon did not mention that my shaving was a problem. He just said they usually did the shaving right before surgery. For you guys that have been implanted...if you shaved you pubic area did your surgeon say this could be a potential problem or a source of infection? I have never heard a word to this effect. Thank you in advance!
